I've been away for several years. My wife of 50 years got critically sick and I cared for her for 2 years before she passed. Then a year of dealing with loss and getting my life back together. I married again a year ago and am getting back in the captain's chair. We did 3 days in Glacier Bay NP a few weeks ago. Awoke one morning to a very low tide and found we were only 30 feet from shore in 3-4' of water, with a brown bear (aka grizzly) mama and 3 cubs only those 30 feet from us. Awesome wilderness stuff. We didn't fry bacon that morning.

My Question: Is anyone thinking about boating SE Alaska, or coming up the inside passage to our area, in the summer of 2025? We summer in Gustavus, the gateway to Glacier Bay, and would love to tie in with any C-brats cruising up here. For local waters I can provide some guidance too.

Mel, me and a cruising buddy are considering a trip back up the inside passage next summer. (2025). If we follow through, I'll be opening up a new thread, likely titled something like 2025 Alaska Inside Passage. We've both been up there once before, me about 4 or 5 years ago, and my buddy 2 or 3 years ago. Colby

Colby, could other C-Brats join in with you if interested? This could be a C-Dory flotilla.

Hi Gary,
I never have a problem with other C-Brats joining me anytime. But maybe with the caveat, join at your own risk and responsibility. Wink Definitely plan on flexibility if you hang out with me. Cool Colby

Colby, do you have any particular dates in mind? We just completed our Great Loop a few days ago and are looking for our next voyage. The boat is here in Colorado, but we'll probably trailer out to the PNW in the spring. Has a date been set yet for Friday Harbor?

Hi Dan,
Congrats on your Loop completion. Hope all went well. Nothing set in stone for the Inside Passage next summer. I'll be talking to Bill (Mystery Girl) next month while we are on the Upper Tennessee to see what his thoughts are, if he's still thinking about going again. Earlier when we discussed it, he was interested in going from Friday Harbor, right after the gathering. I believe the gathering is May 8-11. Daybreak will correct me if I'm wrong. I suspect we'd take a full two months. We both travel at hull speeds, although I would probably pick it up for the longer crossing of the Dixon Entrance. Not sure if we'd make any hard and fast routing plans, but rather just take it day by day. I've only been there once before, and I believe Bill only once as well. I cruised with Bill and Becky on Blue Days, while Bill went with Jay on Hunky Dory, and I believe two others (Mike on Little Joe from Milwaukee and Jody on Voyager.) I don't think we'd be setting up for a big flotilla, but wouldn't have any qualms with others that wanted to follow along. Colby

Many folks use the Friday Harbor C-Brats get together as a starting point to head further north for the Summer in a group. As time draws near, plans just seem to come together for further planning. In early January, 2025, look for a new post for the 2025 Friday Harbor gathering event.
