|
|
I'm looking for opinions. I am going to install stern eyes for towing. Would it be better to install in the reinforced, thicker transom area (with no backing plate) or above and behind the battery area using a backing plate? The area above is only the 1/4" fiberglass.
I'm hesitant to add more holes to the transom area, as I have double 40's. I'm also hesitant to rely on the single 1/4" layer of fiberglass. On a related note, the stern cleats appear to be bolted to a single 1/4" layer with no backing plate.
Any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I used to tow tubes with my 22 using the eyes in the transom for the tiedowns. This required the use of a bridle and a booster ball to lift the tow rope out of the wake.
You need to use a bridle with the hook that is on a pulley vs. a fixed attachment.
This setup worked quite well. |
