Cruiser '22 Dual 50's to Single 115

Hey all, I recently bought a 22' Cruiser with dual 2007 Honda BF50's. I love the boat, the only thing is I feel a bit limited on power with how I like to run. With 4 people and minimal gear, I'm limited to 15mph at 4500 rpm (I can get to 19mph at WOT around 5700 rpm). With 2 people and minimal gear I'm only able to get 25 mph at WOT. I'd prefer to be able to run at the upper-20s on smooth days with 2 people, and cruise at 20 mph with 4 people.
I was thinking of repowering to a single 115, either mercury or suzuki. Each Honda weighs about 220# for a total of 440#. A newer 115 would be 375#. I'd also get a 9.9 kicker. Does anyone have any experience doing something similar?

You should be able to get more than 15mph even with a heavy load, could be a trim issue. You should also try the 3 blade props that came with the boat, they will give you higher speed then the 4 blades at the higher rpm.
With all that said, a new single 115 FI should give you better performance the the older 50s carbs you have now.

Thanks Stephan, I played with the trim on the ride out of Valdez and could only get to 16mph while keeping rpm's around 4500 but will give it another try next time I'm out and bring the other set of 3-blades to swap and see. I'll admit trying to get the right trim with the C-Dory is more of an art than it was on my old Bayrunner. I could definitely use more practice.

I have ancient old twin 45s with tons of hours and get just over 30 mph with full fuel and water. Even loaded to the gills with people and gear it still manages 22-24 mph. Something isn't right with your set-up. And....forgot to put this before the edit....my redline is just north of 6k rpms with 2 adult people and full fuel and water.
