I've been looking at the Tugs too, Roger. Been on all the Nodics up here from the 26 to the 52. Then looked at the American Tugs. Since boats are very subjective, I can say that for us the American Tug felt "more at home" to us than the Nordic. But it certainly is an individual choice for sure. I do hope that you get the chance to see both if they are at the San Diego Show.

Did you see the 26' Nordic Tug for sale at Arabella's in Gig Harbor? Cool looking boat, I'd like to know what their asking price is. _________________ Larry S

The Nordic Tug is the reason I'm getting a TomCat. While TDY to Washington for some assignment issues for the EOD officers, I made a little side trip to Annapolis who had received and had a new 32+ in the water. Once Sherryl got the price listing back from them I guess she felt I was really serious about buying us a boat to see America on once I/we retire... Then, in route to a convention for her in FL we stopped to look at a new CD25 in Crystal Rivers, FL. She got on and loved the TomCat and said... why don't we just get one of these... they are about 1/3 the price of the Nordic Tug.... Did not take much twisting of the arm to get me to get real busy getting the Cat... and I thought, WOW.. my wife is telling me go order a TomCat.... What was I waiting on...? Being a goverment employee (soldier), the TomCat works much better with my budget. That 32+ is W A Y sweet. Have not been on an American. |

That Brydman is a sly one, isn't he? That is too perfect.
Aren't you on your way out to get the new TC soon? Keep us posted on your travels, please.
You're going to love that boat!! _________________ TyBoo Mike

That was pretty good for you Byrdman. All we have to do is look at the proportional costs of getting a Tug or a Trawler, and the cost ,ease, and livability of C-Dory, and out C-Dory wins every time. But those big boats are nice if you have the financial parts easily covered. If we were that way(Jimmy is dreaming) we would still have the C-Dory as our yacht tender.

I'm beginning to think we should name this thread "Nordic Tug". We also have fantasized about owning one of these. (They are built not far from us). I mentioned that we could sell the farm and live on one....but that wasn't a "go".
At any rate the more you put your feet back down on the ground and think of all the upkeep, cost of haul outs, fuel costs, slip fees etc. etc. etc. We figure that if we ever truly wanted to be on a vessel like that, we could rent one for a couple of weeks and in the end save a bunch of money.
Now that the 22' is under construction, me thinks the Nordic Tug dream will fade. (The Nordic Tug doesn't appear to be that easy to tow behind the Dodge and would be a tough maneuver at the boat ramps.....tee hee). _________________ Dave S.

They had a nice selection of Nordics at the Anacortes marina when we were up there last year. That might do for a while, until the next step to a Nordhaven. They might even be trailerable...my 47 ft sailboat was trailered from Vancouver, BC to Ft. Lauderdale, and from Rhode Island back to Vancouver.
Sure easier and more economical with the 22!
Don't know when I'll make the Sandy Ego boat show, probably Thursday when the crowds are a little smaller.

Anacortes is where we can always be sure to see them. They always seem to have 2 or 3 for sale there and if I'm not mistaken they can even be chartered out of there. |
