Has anyone ever checked the internal anodes on Yamaha outboards. My manual (for the 100hp) indicates the location and instruction for checking. Involves the removal of bolts - are there any gasket issues etc that anyone has encountered?
cheers - Dave |

I just did this on my F80 last weekend. There's a rubber grommet on each of the anodes. You just need to be careful putting it back in so you don't wind up pinching it like I did. Work the anode all the way in until it's seated in its socket before you tighten the bolts. Other than that it's a snap - Jim |

Here's a link for the 2005 F-90 Factory Shop Manual. F-80. F-90. and F-100 are the same block, with the later F-90's having EFI, etc.
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/assets/service/manuals/2005/LIT-18616-02-86_1014.pdf
It takes about 5-10 minutes to download the entire shop manual. I saved it all for reference. The printed manual by probably costs $60 or more. Nice to have it for free!
Try changing part of the address above around and maybe you can get the other earlier model manuals.

Hey thanks a bunch, Joe. I suspect for all practical purposes it's the same manual for the F75 as well. I'm just as interested in how you found that URL because I've drilled for treasures like that before on their site but other than the owner manual, have always hit dry holes and "no access."

Don-
As I remember, I ran accross this on "The Hull Truth" website. Probably placed there by some guy or friend of a guy who works in the industry as a mehanic.
Either way, it's just what th e Dr. ordered for us!

Joe - The link to the shop manual is sweet! Do you know if there are links for other models (like my 2003 F80)? I tried fishing around on the Yamaha and hulltruth websites and couldn't find it, but they must exist. Thanks for posting that - Jim |

Jim-
All I can say is
1. Try changing the model number and year and see if you hit it, with or w/o the trailer information/code
2. Try using the first part of the address and see if it takes you to a set of choices of models.
3. I'm thinking now that I might have found this on "iboats Boating Forums"-search their site, although only this one was listed there, but whoever put in the code for this one might give you the code for yours.
4. Go to work on looking for the shop manual using Google or ...?
5. Find a friendly Yamaha mechanic and ask him the address for your motor model.
6. Go to the Yamaha.com site and see what you can find poking around.
Good Luck!

Many thanks Joe, the manual is too good to be true! All Yamaha Canada could offer is the rudimentary user guide you get with the motor from the dealer. Not to forget Jim with his tips on the grommets also - thank you. My motor is a 2002 and looks essentially the same for the type of first line maintenance that I will be doing.
Cheers - Dave |

Thanks Joe. I tried everything but no. 5 - the "LIT-18616-02-86" part of the address is actually the Yamaha part # for the service manual, and I found the part # for my model. If I could just crack the "_1014" part of the code I'd probably have it. I'll try iboats as well. Even if I don't find it, the 2005 manual probably gets 90% of what I need - Jim |

Jim-
Maybe you could go to a Yamaha dealer and look at one of the manuals they have and get the code from the manual itself- it would have the part number on it.
Probably is an order only item, though, as they probably wouldn't have manuals for all the motor models over the years in stock.
How can we get the part #???

Joe - I had no problem finding the service manual part # on the Yamaha web site, but the last 4 digits are something beyond the part #. Maybe a date code for the latest revision or something - Jim |

Jim - post as much of the manual number/part number/information you have. Then you will have other people trying to find it for you also. Someone may get lucky and find it for you or know where to look. _________________ Dave
