Greetings all,

I have just purchased a 2017 Tomcat 255 (it was NMI's demo boat Smile and am excited to explore a different style of boating. For nearly 30 years, we have cruised our Pacific Northwest waters; from the San Juans to the islands of British Columbia, up the Inside Passage to SE Alaska and down the west coast to San Francisco. Those were summer-long trips aboard trawlers that provided all the comforts of home. I expect boating on the Fastcat (her new name) will be different for sure. Cruising at 24 knots instead of 7.5 will be a new experience, as will moving around a boat with 8'-6" beam, but I will NOT miss crawling around engine rooms and the on-going maintenance associated with large boats and their many systems.

For Summer 2024 we'll focus on getting to know the boat in the waters close to our new home in Gig Harbor, Washington. But the following year, we would like to move the boat to the Great Lakes region and explore the Thousand Island archipelago in Ontario, Canada, the Georgian Bay and cruise the Rideau Canal to Ottawa and Montreal. I look forward to meeting other C-Dory and Tomcat owners just as soon as we get back in the water next May!

Yes and congratulations on your C-Dory purchase. Try to make the C-Brats gathering next year starting on Thursday, May 9 to Sunday, May 12 at the Port of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. Expect close to 40 C-Dory boats with their owners to attend this annual event. Would love to meet you and to share boating experiences. Gary

Welcome aboard, Don't forget there are a myriad of other destinations which were practically out of reach with your trawlers on the East Coast, and then Lake Powell, where we used to have gatherings in Sept. The great Loop, the St. John's River, the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers, as well as the Mississippi. Than the Everglades and the Keys. For us C Dorys gave us a different prospective of America, than our larger boats which had covered the entire coastline of North America Icy Straits AK to the Canadian/Maine border. You have chosen wisely with the Great Lakes, but don't forget Isle Royal, and other points on the American Side..

Congrats! You must have been really looking forward to a trailerable boat to have the Rideau Canal in your sights from the West Coast.

Enjoy both the spread and ride of your Cat, not many boats make me jealous but a Tomcat does. If you make it to Victoria, look me up!
