Just returned from quick trip. Trailered from Bethesda, Arkansas to Elizabeth City, NC and launched from Lambs Marina Camden, NC. Great place easy launch left vehicle and trailer no charge. Randy a local provided help and information. Managed to make the 1130 opening of South Mills Lock. Met one sail boat in canal. Didn’t stop at visitors center as we wanted to make the 330 opening of theDeep Creek Lock. Spent the night at the Norfork Naval Station Marina. Took an Uber to motel and restaurant. Left early next morning for South return via the ICW. Arrived at Lamb’s marina before dark. Trip was to fast would not recommend a repeat, but our time was limited. All we say is we did the Dismal Swamp Canal. |

That is a heck of a drive just to do the Dismal Swamp Canal! Nice write up. Thanks.
Next do the great loop in 2 weeks? Heck there was a catamaran which went from Orange Beach Al to the Bahamas in one day. (about 800 miles-averaged almost 60 mph on the water.) Left at 3 AM, the Keys for lunch. _________________ Bob Austin

I’ve read about doing the loop quickly, but I can’t quite manage that speed. |
