My 23 Venture came with a 17 inch pitch, SS prop. It seems to be under propped so I was thinking about switching to a 19 inch pitch prop. Does anyone have advice on what prop works well with my combo? Also, should the pitch change if I switch to an aluminum prop?

Thanks,

Hi Roger,

I can't speak for a SS prop but our 23 Venture/Suzuki 140 came to us new with a 21 inch aluminum prop. I was told that it was properly pitched for our boat from Sportcraft Marina but soon discovered that it was not. I could only get about 5,500 rpm out of the motor when properly trimmed. The prop may have been good for when the boat is lightly loaded but we run our boat heavy for fishing and extended travel in Canada. I switched to a 19 inch Suzuki aluminum prop (3x14x19) and now get a little over 6,000 when properly trimmed. We keep the 21 inch as an emergency spare. Gary

If you are going to change the prop around go with aluminun until you find the right one then go with a stainless. I really like 4 blade props on stern heavy boats which your is with the motor.
