So I'm going to re-bed the plastic "glass".
Um, this is a pretty intimidating projects.

So there is no "shelf" to support the lens material at the proper height. I guess that the soft gasket IS the shelf?

First, be sure and use Dow for 795 for the sealant.

What shape is that gasket in? You may want to replace it if deformed, stiff or torn.

There are videos on the replacement of lens.. Do a google search and you can find more videos. This specific one uses butyl tape on top of the neoprene seal to make a "shelf".

Although I have not done a Bomar hatch, I did do all of the windows on a Cal 46--average 3 1/2' lone and 20" high. You want to be sure the plastic has enough room to expand and contract--and that is why you want an equal space all around the plastic lens.

I did my research, and I've got my Dow 795! Smile

The gasket is in great shape, considering its age. I'm tempted to just use it, since I already have it. I'm a little confused about the sequence:

1: clean and prep everything
2: glue the gasket in, and let it set up? My reason for doing this as a separate step would be to ensure it's seated back into the corners fully. It wants to pull out on its own.
3: glue the lens in, ensure the spacing all around is even, and let it set up.
4: tape off and caulk the gap between lens and frame

Anything not-quite-right about this sequence?

That should work--be sure and tape both sides of the plastic. I would also put paper/tape over the rest of the lens to keep accidents from happening,

Do you need to use some butyl tape to make the ledge for the lease to sit on, and be flush with the rim of the frame?

I would use small pieces of cork/rubber gasket material, to assure even spacing of the frame around the lens.
