Hello-
I currently keep my anchor in a 5 gal bucket, manually drop it and tie it to the cleat on the bow.
However, I ruptured my achilles tendon and with more limited mobility, I am hoping to install a windlass that can be controlled from the captain's seat.
Looking for suggestions on what windlass folks have used and where to store the rode.
Thanks!

I went with a manual retrieval from the helm because my anchor is only 10 pounds. On my 16 (a cruiser model) it is a little more compex, but it is basically running the anchor line through a deck pulley into the cabin. I used commercial lead line instead of chain and it works well. I store the line on a wheel made for holding a large extention cord.
I like waking up in the morning right where I anchored the night before. Photos in my album under Modifications - Ground Tackle. |
