I just ran into this website: www.capecruiserboats.com. What's up with this? They are slightly stretched versions of CD 22's and 25's, it looks like, and they describe themselves as extensions of Toland designs. They are out of Kent, WA. I'm curious about the lack of apparent buzz they've gotten here and on C-Dogs. Anybody know what these boats are like, and how they compare/contrast with current and past CD's?

There are really well built boats that will give the c-dory a run for there money and some competition in sales, which should push c-dory to make some well deserved changes. Just ask sark about his new floor.

Very interesting. I just went back and searched the site. It has been "cussed and discussed" quite a bit. Anyone familiar with a CD been out in a Cape Cruiser yet to offer any opinions? It does look like they built with an eye on what people were saying about CD's--which makes sense.
As a comment coming a bit late, but no less true--Da Nag, you show a lot of class running this place. Good job. Thumbs Up

They are heavier and require more power so for those of us with a mid size towing rig the cape cruisers are kind of pushing the limits.

I'll chirp in here for what it is worth. The Cape Cruiser is a nice boat . How could it not be, basically owing it's shape and design to the original CDory Wink . I took a test ride on the boat and it was nice. There were some things I liked about it, the main one being the transom is more closed, and being a fisherman, that appeals to me. But there were also some things I didn't like as well. The table conversion isn't as roomy as on the Cdory for example. The floor was another thing I liked but CDory has since updated their cockpit floor to a truly impressive design. I liked both boats alot, but after a disaster with a relatively new design on my last boat( basically sinking) I was very timid about going with a new company, and new design, and from a company that is much smaller than Cdory. The way I see it, and from my last experience, the problem with a new and smaller company is if you run into problems. They do not neccessarily have the capital or resources to just replace a faulty hull, or whatever problems you might encounter, and their track record is too short to see how they have taken care of problems in the past. I beleive CC has not even been around a full year. Please don't quote me though. It has taken me close to a year to get my previous problems worked out, because of such a case( small company, new design). I know that Cdory has very recently replaced a hull, that was not up to the customers standards. What really swayed me was talking to the guys at the factory, I just got the right feeling from them, and immediatly signed the paperwork for a new 22. They have been nothing but great to work with and I know I made the best decision for myself and family. With Cdory, I believe you are getting more than just a boat. Which can be testified for, by all the great people who frequent this great place.

Good luck in your search

Sark
