got any looky lou stories?
I have the boat all cleaned up and sitting in the driveway and the other day I noticed somebody checking it out. He Went around the block twice just flying low, checking things out..On his third trip I waved to him to let him know I saw him and he had better not think of trying to tow it off. On his fourth lap around the block he gave be the wing waggle. He had a pretty sporty looking plane, it looked like something you might do stunts in. Today I had another plane do a lap around the house, it was a private jet. What next AK airlines. _________________ Ken

Last year on our way to florida we were stopped in the parking lot of a walmart in pendleton. Some guy saw the boat and turned in and did a slow drive by and then got back on the road. I had the boat looking pretty good then with fresh wax and I had just put Hammerhead on the sides.
Funny thing was he looked just like this old guy I went fishin with once...

Thru the years, there have been multiple folks who want to see the C Dory. The "worse" was one who basically forced me to stop at the side of the road and he just wanted to find out about the C Dory.
We had "Boater homed" a lot, and there were many admirers at camp grounds all across the USA. Gas stations--common lookers. _________________ Bob Austin

I aint missing being a stupid youth.. I should have directed my efforts towards golf or catching large bass. I do find myself missing the Elfin Cove fishing business...maybe that's just PTSD
ClayH, you should grab that Ridgefield spot. Even if you aren't going boating it's pretty entertaining to just sit on the deck and watch the ramp show. We're headed to the Charleston marina at Coos Bay in a few weeks, I think that may be our new hangout.
that's pretty hard core to almost force somebody off the road to get a look at their boat..a person could get shot in this era |

I was working on my boat in my driveway a couple of weeks ago. Some guy came by on his bicycle. He stopped and offered to buy my boat on the spot. I told him that it wasn't for sale. |

I drove from Michigan to Maryland to the yard my brother and I were having our
Atlantic 42 catamaran built. We were out for dinner. Some guy approached us
and asked if "that convertible outside" was for sale. I said anything I have I'll sell
for the right price.
I flew home 3 days later.

I was filling gas one day and this "older" lady filled across the pump from me. When she was done she came around and asked if "that boat was wooden?" When I told her no, she said, "Well an old boat like that should be, Why isn't it?" Kind of did a "humpf" and went of shaking her head.
On my only on the water Coast Guard stop, after a very thurough inspection (Looking for my fishing gear or fish and finding none) the USCG offered that he should give me a ticket for , - - - not being a fishing guy - - - with a boat like this.

A guy knocked on my front door yesterday. He said "I've seen your boat in your driveway and if you're not doing anything right now can you show it to me?"
So I did. |

I took the boat off the lift and put it in the front drive last month to work on it.
Since then I've had two different guys stop and ask what it is/if they can look/is it for sale?
I'm down in south Florida, so it's not a common boat here at all. |

So I was in Georgetown, Exuma for the winter on the Atlantic 42 cat contemplating
my navel amid an approaching nasty storm thinking I should wake up and get into
Red Rocks, a local hurricane hole. A guy in a small outboard kept circling me
appearing as an authentic Looky Lou.
I flagged him over and invited him aboard for a beer. He agreed, came aboard
and recounted he has ordered a cat exactly like 'this one' being built by the same
dealer even. The bad news was he was having to wait, maybe 5 years, for his
boat to be built due to the dealer back log.
Since I've always held anything I own can be sold for the right price, I opened my
yap expressing the same to him.
I checked it out with my co-owner brother and it seemed a go.
Four months later it was a done deal. Sold: the second best day in a boaters's life.

Well now, a bit into my personal space, but I'll take the bait.
You may not be surprised to know I've had five 'serious' relationships, so far,
in my life; and am married to wife #3. I can't explain the numbers or how it came
about...
Thanks for the opportunity of getting that out. I feel so much better now.
