What's new? Many of us have lived aboard sailboats many years. I suspect our 13 years of live aboard is not unusual in this group of C Dory owners. It is a great life style.

I would consider living on a 40 foot boat quite luxurious & wonderful. During our 54 year marriage, JoLee & I have lived in small apartments & trailer homes of less than 400 square feet through medium sized homes to a luxury home of 4500. We spent our first winter in Wyoming with our three boys ages 3 to 9 in a one room log cabin with just the bath room separated & total area much less than 400 sq ft. We now live in a 1000 sq ft log home & have spent several three month straight periods to us quite comfortably in our CD22 & in the last 20 years over 3 years total worth of days & nights aboard. Like Bob, I see nothing unusual about living for a while on a 40 foot boat.

Jay

Thank you "R&R" for posting this article. The Pacific NW offers much to explore, enjoy and marvel at while "in-season". To travel on a larger sailboat or trawler for six months at a time and then prepare for next year's adventure in the Pacific NW is something to consider as a lifestyle. Thanks for sharing.

lived on a 30' freedom sailboat for 10 years in seattle. A wonderful life. Go home to the boat some evenings and untie and go for a sail. Come friday afternoon stop at Larrys' market for some provisions and head out to someplace else for the weekend. One thing I did learn that caused me to leave the lifestyle is there aren't many women willing to live like that, especially the walk up to the showers or laundry on a cold wet morning.
