1999 22 ft Cruiser with Wallace 95D stove

I just became the proud owner of a1999 22 Cruiser! It has a Wallace 95D stove that has never been used. It has a plastic bottle full of liquid assuming diesel. I want to ask do I use this bottle with fresh diesel? The liquid has no gel formed. And do they sell small cans of diesel or just get at pump? While pushing buttons checking everything, the fan came on. Thanks for any feedback this is new stuff for me!

Call scan marine at 206-285-3675 to ask them what they recommend for a machine that has sat for so long. They are very helpful. At minimum replace the diesel with fresh diesel. No. 2 diesel from the pump is fine.

Congrats on the new boat. When you say bottle, I think plastic 1 or 2 liter clear soda pop type bottle. Is that what you are talking about? If so, lots of things get stored in bottles like that - to include oil for the steering system....that's where I keep mine - not in a soda bottle exactly, but a clear one meant for such a thing. Do you really mean fuel tank?

As far as "fresh" diesel....yup diesel can and will go bad. However, when stored in an actual bottle with no exposure to the oxidants in the atmosphere and out of the sun, my personal feeling is that is if it is still clear and looking good, then it is probably about is good as you're going to get anywhere. As usual....better to be safe than sorry and any questionable fuel should be disposed of in an appropriate way. Diesel fuel from the gas station is recommended.

BTW....I suspect all SCAN will tell you is to put fresh fuel in it and try starting it up. They'll probably also tell you it will take several cycles to get fuel to the stove unit. If you have a manual, it would be a good idea to read it, because you'll probably have to deal with it locking you out - eventually it just get pissed and goes into a fault mode. I know mine would after prolonged storage. No biggie....just follow the procedure to unlock it.

Hopefully the fuel is in the plastic bottle which has the pickup for the stove. You can introduce a small bubble in the fuel line and watch it progress as fuel is taken from the reservoir to the burner. Any fuel in that line will be old, and should be discarded.

The battery for the Wallas (proper spelling) stove must be at 12.6 volts or higher. Some run their engine or a battery charger to be sure it is that high and stays that way during induction of diesel to the burner.

Thanks for the info! The container holding the old fuel is plastic and about the size and shape as a antifreeze jug.
