I recently purchased a 13ft Heavy Duty Kabot. I like the boat with the larger tubes and more chambers, but - After inflating and putting it on top of my 22, I feel it is too heavy for me deal with. The return shipping and re-stock fee is almost not worth returning it.

If anyone has been looking at one of these, I am willing to sell this brand new one for a discount.

Probably a long shot, but thought I would put it out there before I decide to take the hit or just keep it.

Steve

Steve, have you thought about one of those davits to lift the boat onto your roof? After seeing a few at Friday Harbor, I'd almost be tempted to install one on C-Traveler just to help with the inflatables! Colby

Below is link to the Garhauer Lifting Davit. We have one and are very happy with it. Thataway has many installation tips posted and photos in his album.
We lift an 8 foot hypalon dinghy with my wife pulling the line while I am on the bow. They will make the mast in a specific height to meet your specification.

I would suggest the 150# version of the above Davit: 150 lb version, on 2" tube.

First the large K boats are over 100 lbs. Second although not certified for lifting a person out of the water, in an emergency it can be used for that purpose. We have tested one on me--about 180#, with no issues.

Hi Guys,

I do have the lifting davit and crafted a mount to use it on the side of the boat for lifting the Kaboat on top. There is still some manual effort in moving the boat on land, such as putting it into the back the truck and storing it. I will carry it in the truck when trailering. Not as easy as the lighter model.

It is a nice boat, and feels very rugged compared to the standard one I had. Since the shipping and a 15% restocking fee would come to 40% of the price, it looks like I will be keeping it. Shipping has gotten very expensive for heavy items.

Hi Steve
I roll mine up on the ground and stand it on end then tip it onto the tailgate so I don't have to lift all the weight. You can also use the davit too put it on the tailgate. I have to mussel it a little to get into the bed of the truck. Bring it up to Yellowstone in August and we can Practice, Practice, Practice.

I made a trailer hitch mount for the 2" (150#) Davit. That way you can lift it up from the ground to a SUV or Truck bed. I believe I still have it, and will give it free to the first person who will pay shipping. (make the payment to the C Brats tip jar) Solid steel so it is not light. I should be able to weigh it if anyone is interested.
