The sending units on my 1993 metal fuel tank are not working. Any experience replacing them? Do I have to remove the fuel tank or can I replace the sending units in place? Would it be better to replace the 60 gallon tank with two plastic tanks?

If you have a good working 60 gallon tank stick with it! You should be able to access the sending unit-but may have to take the tank out, or at least slide forward to access the sender.

The 2 23 gallon tanks will be closer to 21 gallons each usable. Your 60 gallon tank will probably be over 55 gallons usable--so a very significant advantage.

The only Downside is not getting to your bilge pump Otherwise no problems As far as getting to your sending unit take out your holding screws and pull out the tank replace the sending unit get one that works with sender going up and down not the swing type good luck

Thanks for the replies, it makes sense to keep what I have and replace the sending units for $40 to $50 each. Plastic tanks are $300 to $500 each, and I have to do something with the metal tank!!!!!
