Just about finished on our summer mooring cover for our 16' cruiser. We did NOT want to drill holes or do upkeep with snaps, so I made this cover with Sunbrella fabric that attaches with nylon webbing and/or elastic to the two top handrails, the two back handrails and the ubolts on the back of the transom.

We just have to decide the attachment to the side of the cabin, which I think will be 4" cleats, those will be the only new holes. It's a rather fair weather cover for the summer, but we wanted a lot of airflow to reduce mold potential.

It seems very secure, and only cost about $250 for fabric/materials (not including my $5,497 in labor Smile It looks a bit frumpy in these pics, but not in person, I haven't ironed anything, and may not Smile And now we now have brand new sunbrella fabric that should shed water like crazy. Definitely a difference in the fabric weight compared to our old existing full cover.

Nice work! Is it easy to fasten and secure while afloat?

thanks, I just did a test run this afternoon (in the driveway), takes about 15 seconds to put up, and 10 or less to take down. And I misspoke, there are two snaps, one on each of the straps that are wrapped around the roof handrails, but they're not attached to the boat. Everything is double feld stitching, so should be nearly 100% waterproof. It might "float" a little with a high wind, but I don't see any way it could actually come off. We'll see!

We've only had the boat about six months, and now haven't been able to do our maiden voyage because our merc 50hp suddenly decided to pee fuel after several saltaway flushes, new fuel lines, new portable tank, etc.. So, now we have to take everything apart, fun Smile
