Thomas,
My C80 screen went gray several months ago and I use it primarily for radar. The screen sits forward of my shifter and is angled up where it is easy to see. My chartplotter on the dash is Garmin and it is tied to NEMA 2000, along with my AIS, auto helm and outboard. I was contemplating changing my C80 to a Garmin, along with the Garmin radar antenna, but once I looked at the out the door cost of the components, I chose to just replace the C80 screen...
I too looked around and found many screens for sale on eBay, but ended up purchasing a nice one that was from a pilothouse boat (screen was always inside) and the boat wasn't very old. The seller was upgrading everything to Garmin. I was able to purchase it from him on Facebook Marketplace for $250, which included shipping. It was wonderful just to plug in a screen, without going through the wiring drill.

Our C-80 MFD somewhat miraculously recovered and came back to life - and BTW, thanks for plugging the radar back into our C-80 at Friday Harbor, we could not do that for the life of us!

I am just finishing up the process of replacing my entire Raymarine C-80 system, which includes, a Radar, Auto Pilot electronics, fish finder and other parts and chart cards. I would prefer to sell the entire system as a package, but I have not put everything together yet.

I have replaced the system with a Raymarine Axiom+ system, which includes a 7" and a 9" display, 3D sonar, Quantam Doppler 2 Radar and a few other electronic upgrades. I only had it on the water for one quick test so far. I am looking forward to many years of use in the future with this new system. It has been a challenge to install and I think that my investment in zip ties will almost equal the cost of the Raymarine System.

My suggestion is that if you are going to take on a project like this. Take the time to train a little monkey to use tools and pull wire. It will be much easier than having a '6'4" 220 lb man in his 60's doing the wiring.

One of the tricks in pulling wires, is to always leave a "pull string" in each passage, run or race. Tape the new wire/fitting smoothly and with a taper to the "string" and have a second "pull string" passing along with the new wire. Often old wires can be used to pull a new pull string, or on some occasions, the actual new wire.

Blase-Jean I think I will take you up on that. I will pm you an address.

Peter- this is why i want to wait till the end of the season to do the complete replacement with new simrad system. I know how much wiring and cabinets I have to remove just toget me back where I can get to every thing.

I took this on in May because that is when the weather is warm enough up here to do this work. Now that it is almost complete there will be the big learning curve on the new system. We have decided to postpone our cruises from Kitimat and Prince Rupert and do some lake cruising first to get the system working and learn all the new features. I would hate to have to a problem in some remote fjord in the north Pacific.

Tom, I don't know if you are thinking of me, but I did replace my whole system earlier this year, but it is all gone EXCEPT for the DSM 250 HD Fishing sounder module and wires. This was in perfect working condition when it was taken out of the boat in Feb 2022.

Tom, I'm going to pull out my C-80 sometime "pretty soon now". Got a new kit to install but haven't had time/energy yet.
