Just ordered up a 16’ cruiser for early May delivery and to my knowledge it will probably be the first one in North Dakota. I have had allot of boats over the years and am anxious to try out the C-dory. Having it rigged with the 50 Honda and will be adding a transom electric 3X.

I mostly fish for walleye in the Missouri river and its reservoirs. Just wanted to say hello to everyone and that I have enjoyed looking at the photos of everyone’s rigs. I will post some pics after I get it home and rigged. Might have to figure a way to install a live-well under one of the seats?

Since 16' cruisers are a definite minority on the site, welcome. We have had ours for only a few months but really enjoy it. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

wildthing, welcome to the site. Don’t know if you are the first 16’ cruiser in North Dakota, however you are the only 16 footer on this site from ND.

There are two 22 footers in ND. They are TK Grand and JEMSTONE. Here are Charts of the C-Brats Boats and locations. It is a little more complete than the C-Brat map. From my understanding, the C-Brat map will not have a pin for the boat, unless the Member has entered their Zip code.

The only states without a C-Brat C-Dory boat are Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota and West Virginia. That was as of the 14th of January 2006. There have been a few new members with C-Dorys since then, so it is possible some could be in one of those states.

I will update the charts soon.

Congratulations on the new 16' C-Dory! Ya might as well get a few cans of touch-up paint for the prop and a spare, you're going to need it boating on the Missouri.

I used to live in Bismarck many years ago and did a lot of boating in that Bismarck/Mandan area. My aluminum prop looked more like shiny stainless steel by the end of the summer, lots and lots of sandbars. The big reservoirs are really nice and the walleye fishing is great, I sure do miss that part of good ole' North Dakota.

Good for you! Are you getting it from Northwest Outlet in Superior? I find my self doing "C-Dory drive bys" past there. My wife just rolls her eyes. She is just now understanding my obsession with these boats.

What color trim are you getting? They seem to only order Blue or Green there. No Fire Engine RED Cry

I bought the boat from a gentleman named Les at E.Q. harbor sales and service in Washington State. On the phone this guy impressed me! He loves to talk about boats and fishing just like me. I am really looking forward to doing some overnight trips with this boat and just got done ordering all the accessories to rig it out, I almost bought the 22” but was worried that it would not be as fishing friendly as the 16 (trolling). I am the webmaster for a group of websites in ND, SD, MN, and Iowa with over 25,000 registered members so if it fishes well I am going to give this boat a little press! I plan on doing a video series on boat camping in the Midwest. Thanks for the welcome, Love fishing the Missouri it is in an up-cycle with walleye numbers increasing. I envy you for what must be some fantastic adventures and fishing north from Washington State, Halibut, crabbing and scenery that looks breathtaking!! I have a fly in booked to homer in august so I will get a little taste of it. Maybe I can set up a C-dory rally in ND or SD in the future

Hey, wildthing....

Sounds like part of a song..

Welcome to the site. My wife is from Devils Lake. Parents and one of her brothers still live there. And Les is about 7 miles from my home here in WA. Just based on those two things, I had to say hi. Don't know if I am up for trailering the 25 to ND, but it would double as a camper along the way.

We paddled down the Missouri from Montana to South Dakota in a double kayak before we had Halcyon-- took a couple of months. Marvelous country and beautiful water. Would love to bring our Halcyon up to your lakes -- how about a get-together in the Fall? -- anybody want to follow up on Wildthings suggestion? How late in the fall do you think it would be OK to cruise on your waters, given that we'd have good heaters?

W E L C O M E A B O A R D !

You will love your 16 crusier as I did Jabez! Great boat! Get he in and do some measuing....and then just go buy some tupperware tubs and containers. They slide in and out from under the bunk with ease and make it easy to keep "like items" in their own container....which is easy to dig thru once you have it up in your lap. I hated and missed using my 16 once I sold her so much it only took me about 20 minutes to make a call and hit the road to purchase one of the very few, and the last 18 Angler made. I love that boat and look forward to time on board....and sizing out the tuperware containers again. The guy who had my 18 built a neat bench seat, that is also a circulating live bait box.... I think some pics of it are in the C-Byrd photo folder, that is inside of the FreeByrd photo albumn on page 10 of our c-dory owners photo albumns. Or, drop me an email and I can send you some digital picks of it that I have taken lately. I think if I started from scratch on this project, and it was the 16 instead of the 18, I would use an igloo cooler as the box...just for flexibility and multi-use purpose. As Halcyon has taught me on the smaller boats....most things on board have more than one use....or it does not come on board.

Bill and El: I see you are still using your geographic AC unit on the Halcyon. Grin. Fall in ND sounds good.
