My two-step swim platform on my 22' C-Dory 2005 Cruiser needs to be replaced. The fiberglass on the top has failed at the supports. Is there an aftermarket for these swim platforms? I wish I could figure out how to upload a photo of it, but it's the standard original swim platform. No specs in my manual. The marina said they were trying to find C-Dory aftermarket replacements. I told them to just order a new two-step similar to the original and replace the old one and repair any holes in the C-Dory if the new one does not have the same footprint. Any suggests anyone? Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Dave Verrill, Betterton, Maryland

I have a 2008 22 same thing. Not ‘failed’ yet but getting there. Plus the 2
step ladder is not easy. Let me know if you find a replacement!

I have a 1991 22 cruiser that came with out a swim step. fortunately I live in Bellingham WA, 20 minutes away from where the C Dorys are built. I contacted them via their website and arraigned to have one built and then just picked it up and paid for it. They were great to deal with and I'd be very surprised if they wouldn't ship one somewhere. I'll put a picture in my album, it's very nice, and I'm sure it'll last. They don't give them away though.

Dave, to post photos you first have to have a photo album on this site. You need to send a PM to the Admin guys and ask for an album. They are generally pretty quick to respond. Then you load the pix into the album and from there you can transfer them to your thread posts.

Admin is the first name in the Memberlist (button at the top of the page under the C-BRAT logo). The next two are DaNag and Tyboo. Send a PM to one of the three and you should be in good shape soon.

The are a number of generic swim platforms that you could fit to a C-Dory (e.g. Garelick). The factory C-Dory swim platform is a part made by the factory. You can buy a C-Dory swim platform from the factory with or without the ladder. The step from the factory is not inexpensive.

The ladder is a commercial part that can be bought from a number of places. You can change the existing ladder to a 3 or even 4 step version if you want.

A photo would help--and I hope that you can get one up in the next few days. Anything fiberglass can be repaired. It should be fairly easy to repair a swim step. It might cost more than a new one however because of shop labor costs. The factory has molded new swim steps on demand in the past.

I would replace the ladder with a 3 to 4 step ladder. The 2 step is not adequate to get out of the boat, if you are older, injured or have dive gear on.

It also helps to add grab handles to the back of the boat in the swim platform area. Putting a handle on the side of the motor cover is helpful too.
