|
|
My boat came with a 9.9 kicker mounted on a Garelick bracket port side and 2 batteries in the starboard lazarette. I have removed the bracket and purchased a Mini Jack. The problem is if I mount it back on the port side, the tiller will hit the side of the splashwell. I see pictures in the albums of individuals having it on the port side. My question...how do they make a turn to starboard? My goal is having the kicker attached to the main with the option to still troll being out in the cockpit. Also, any one looking for a Garelick swing up bracket; I have one for sale I hated it.
Thanks,
Steve |

Mine was mounted on the starboard side, and I didn't have any problems. You can see my Kicker install in an embedded album in Midnight Flyer's photo album. Colby |

Thank you! I will move it to the starboard side and move at least one of the batteries to the port Lazerette. |

Keep in mind that because the tiller handle is on one side of the motor, it may be more difficult to steer because of it being closer to the main motor cowling. You may find that by tilting the tiller up at a 45° angle, you may have enough clearance for full steerage and thus keep it on the port side. _________________ Gary F

Yah, my point wasn’t to move it but that it should work from either side. You may just have to lift the tiller handle some to turn it fully. |
