Hi, I used to have the angler 19. I miss it but it was a bit too rough for offshore fishing being flat bottom so I sold it.
You all have always been so helpful so I thought id ask
My wife and I want to try halibut fishing in may (24,25,26 or 27) and was looking for a half day charter.
Any recommendations?

thanks
Richard

Hard to find a 1/2 day charter anywhere in Washington.
Halibut are not easy in Puget Sound or the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
All Star Charters in Everett is good.
R&R Charters in Anacortes.

You may want to consider a ling cod charter instead.

Best of luck!

If you really want to catch halibut, get a charter out of Sekiu or Neah Bay. Yes, it's a longer trip but the odds of coming back with a halibut are near 100% with good charters out of either area.

Why a half day? It is a long ride just out and back. Coming up from CA, Westport would be closer. I've fished them all, and didn't see much difference. Certainly the largest halibut I ever caught in Washington was Westport. The largest one I've seen caught in Washington was actually Dallas Bank in the Straits of JdeF. Go figure. As mentioned, charter out of Neah Bay, Sekiu, but also Westport, and catching halibut is 100% in my experience, maybe a couple dozen times. Straits not so much, though it can work. Fish a combination day on a charter and catch your halibut, but also a limit of lingcod, rockfish, etc., sometimes monster lingcod. Great fun and good eating.

Thanks guys. Half day - price, wife (separate and not in that order Smile.) We are there for a full week and I really want to get a feel for the areas I definitely will check out Neah bay. Mostly all the charters were booking fast and I did not realize they only fish certain days per rules.
I must say- I sure miss this group.

thx again,
Richard
