Just bringing this topic back up to the top. I suppose it's a good time for everyone to start thinking about the trip, where you're starting from, which route etc. Is anyone taking off from Twin Bridges Friday morning? We would sure like some company seeing as how we've never been to Princess Louisa before. _________________ Peter & Caryn

I will be leaving twin bridges friday night after work, when ever that is, and heading over to poets cove for the night. Are you guys going there the first night or are you heading farther north? There is always trailering into canada and launching closer to the inlet. pender harbor or secert cove both have ramps. Also vacouver has some ramps. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

OK, I am taking Friday off, we will go to Birch Bay Thursday evening after work. Friday morning we will launch at Blaine, clear customs at White Rock, and then try to make the run to Pender Harbor along the mainland side. Spend the night at Pender Harbor and go on up Jervis Inlet the next morning. Stay Saturday and Sunday at Princess Louisa, then Sunday afternoon, run back down to Pender Harbor for the night again, Monday make our way back to Blaine (where we will clear customs by phone with our spiffy new I-68s). _________________

Folks - wish I could join you to Princess Louisa. Went there in 1997 on a 25' Nordic Tug. Left from Anacortes. That was a slow trip with the tug's top speed around six knots. It was in Sept, and the weather was incredibly beautiful. The only down side was the fact that a large boat took up almost the entire dock at the end of the fiord for several days. It was so large that it had a baby grand piano in the salon. Hope you don't run into that situation. The Young LIfe camp at the entrance was shut down then, so we used their dock to wait for the tide to change. Of course a C-Dory should be able to move into the arm with little problem. Those tumbling water falls, not just Chatterbox, are indeed spectacular.
And visiting Pender Harbor to and from is a real joy. Have a good, safe trip. John _________________ hopelessly addicted C-Dory user |

By the way on Memorial Day weekend, I will be canoeing down the Smith River in Central Montana. At least its water I will be on, and the fishing should be good. John |

We are from Salem, going up as far as we can on Thursday. Launching from Twin Bridges as early as we can Friday. Check into Canada at Pender Harbor. If there is daylight left, we will continue north. You are welcome to tag along. Last summer we were in the Gulf Is. but we only got as far north as Ladysmith. _________________ Terry, Ann & Chloe

Hey Terry,
Sounds like we have a mini-pod. C-Dancer would like to tag along with Rock-C and Lloyds on Friday morning. And Lloyds, don't worry about going too slow, it just gives us a better chance to soak up the beautiful scenery |

Terry, let's keep in touch. Maybe we can follow you up thursday. I have heard of Twin Bridges But have no idea where it is. Is the parking secure? |

I have parked at Twin Br. a couple of times. Never had a problem, however my old beat-up truck is not a pretty target. What we have done, if we are going to be there for more than a few days, is launch at Twin Br. I take the boat to Anacortes and Ann drives the truck around, ( 5-10 miles.). The parking at Cap Sante seems secure and the cost is less. |

I think I remember Twin Bridges now. Is that the fairly new or remodeled marina along the road going to Anacortes? Right next to the casinos? |

Yup, you got it. The turn-off is immediately before the "Twin Bridges" on the way to Anacortes. The marina is fairly new, about 5 years old. I don't know about the security at the ramp but I know quite a few boats launch and keep their tow vehicles there. |

Hey guys maybe I missed something, but this morning I called Twin Bridges Marina to ask about launching and the guy there said they only launch boats stored with them and they don't even have a ramp? _________________ Ken Trease

There is a ramp under the bridges, I think it's called the Swinomish ramp but don't quote me on the name. Twin Bridges Marina is a dry storage facility (where we keep our boat) and only launches via forklift. They are in the same general location, about 100 yards away separated by a road but are separate facilities. Hope that makes sense. |
