I know the C-Lous are moving and all, but looking at the calendar, may we assume that Sequim is ON for September 30 - October 2? Can we get a sign-up sheet? _________________

I noticed that several of you who commented on my 75 vs. 90 hp. for 22' thread are in this group....We've got some big news for you: We bought at 1998 22' Cruiser last weekend!!!! Had thought we'd have to buy new but found a well-cared-for 'Dory that had been under cover at the Des Moines Marina its entire life with the bottom repainted annually. Would love to show it off to you all and meet you at Sequim Bay. _________________ Chubby Bunny |

Chubby Bunny-
Congradulations on the new boat!
Now for the bottom line...
How many hp?
And what brand, etc.
Thanks, Joe. _________________ Sea Wolf, C-Brat #31

SeaWolf,
I think that the consensus was to go for the 90hp Suzuki (meaning more hp is better and fuel injection is better) but this ol' gal has a carbureted Honda 75hp with an 8hp kicker. For the SUBSTANTIAL discount we got relative to the new price, I think I can live with the tilty-thing upstream of the cylinders Also, for our first tour we circled Vashon Island and had dinner on the Tacoma waterfront, so I'm finding that owning a C-Dory is so much fun that it's hard to care about engine technicalities anymore!!!
Regards,

Thanks, for the reply, Chubby Bunny!
Sounds like you got a good deal.
I was just curious how your thinking went.

Back up to the top! We will be there, but without boat this year...Juan de Fuca and Admiralty Inlet on a rough October Sunday put Patty off her feed, and to tell the truth, it was not exactly my cup of tea either (I kept saying "C-Dory weather, dear!" to keep spirits up - didn't work then, and I doubt it would work this year either). So we will be there for the Saturday doings, motel it I guess, for sure make the breakfast at the Oak Table (reason enough to go to Sequim!), and then head home...
All new Brats - you really ought to do this one, the campfire on a cool October evening, potluck and camaraderie here are as good as it gets! |

that just sounds like a Sequim dandy event. We've been lax in our attendance at northern CB gathereings, I suppose we had better try to make this one before they jerk our membership for non-participation _________________ Ken

I have arranged for the time off. Now if the deal on the boat goes through and I get everything in order I hope to be there. The way my schedule works (On call 24-7) this might be the first time I get my feet wet!
So whats the drill? Do we use transient slips at the John Wayne Marina?
I'll probably put in at the J. W. Marina. That would be a good show. I havent driven a power boat in over two decades and that was a 16 footer. A better idea would be to recruit some C-Brats to help with the put in and docking. Athough I'd be open to the idea of putting in elsewhere and traveling up with someone else, assuming I can get in some familiarization time. |

Nope, the deal is, we gather at Sequim Bay State Park, a couple of miles from John Wayne. Tie up to the float there, usually lots of space but raft if necessary, not a problem at a CBGT. John Wayne is a dandy place to launch and park your tow rig if you are not going to cruise in from somewhere else - last year we cruised in from Everett. Trip over was a piece of cake, trip back was not! R-Matey cruised in from Bellingham. Folks will no doubt be glad to help you get in the water...when you know for sure, let everyone know your preferred plan. October is a roll of the dice - could be sunny and calm, could be foggy, could be rocking and rolling - we have experienced them all at Sequim Bay in the three years we have attended this one...

Milehog – You do not need a boat to make any of our get togethers.
I have only been to one CBGT and that was in Bellingham earlier this year. Sequim will be my second one and I plan on putting in at Olympia again and going by boat, if the weather isn’t too bad. Otherwise I will trailer my boat to Sequim.
Going by boat, there are two areas that often times have rough conditions (small craft warnings) when the rest of the Sound is relatively calm. They are Admiralty Inlet and the East Entrance U.S. Waters Strait of Juan De Fuca. You will have to go through both to get to Sequim. _________________ Dave

OK, thanks. If I make it up there with the boat I'll put in at the marina. |

Wise decision to do it at John Wayne, and wise decision to go. Sequim is a great gathering every time. I go by boat from Deception Pass if'n I can find a boat... this year ferry boat maybe.
