Roy,
Not sure what the fees are at CIH. Get in touch with the Harbor Patrol when you arrive and let them know you need to tie up for the night. Should be able to contact them on channel 12.

Roy...just stop by the Harbor Patrol office...just a couple blocks south of the launch ramp...and sign up for a guest slip. The guest docks are just north of the ramp. Remember...don't pay for parking in the lot because it is included in the slip rental. Can't remember the fee...but as I recall it was inexpensive. I will be there Thursday afternoon, maybe we could cruise over to the Whales Tail or Port Royal for dinner?

Thanks guys.
Chris- I'm not sure when we'll arrive. Probably late evening on Thursday unless I can get on the road fairly early. I really dislike towing on the 101 during peak traffic hours. I'll have a better idea as the time grows closer.

Chris,
Since I get off work at 2:00pm I think we can get an early start and get there in time for dinner. Let's plan on it. If it starts to get late or you just want to say hello, my cell phone number is:
714 920-8505
We're looking forward to seeing you again!

Hi All,

I have had a lot of trips to Santa Barbara. I have a Brother-in-law living there. Really nice place to visit. If your into fishing, try the Santa Cruz Island. It's about 25 miles out as I remember but we caught Sheepshead and California White fish. Both are good to fish for and good eating. The Sheepshead are large with big blunt teeth and hard jaws for crushing shellfish. Their also very colorful depending on the variety.
Enjoy yourself and catch one for me. I'm in Maine and too far for the trip.

Gismo will be arriving at the Harbor mid-day Thurs. I'm coming from Santa Cruz on hwy 101 thru Santa Barbara to Oxnard. I think I turn off on Victory and head west to the Channel Isl. Harbor ( Oxnard Harbor ).
Is that correct?

Yes- take the 101 to Ventura and turn off on Victoria towards the harbors. Take Victoria all the way past Channel Islands Blvd, The ramp will be on the right.

As usual every year I'll be leaving Chan Is Marina early Saturday morning (son in school Thurs/Fri). I'll take any slip or position you want me in, probably arriving near 10am unless weather turns nasty. I'll call you, Roger, to give you a heads-up that morning.

There will be a few boats at Channel Islands Harbor Thursday night.
There are a few choices for eating in the harbor for those of you that will be eating out; (map location)
Port Royal- very good food, in the harbor (4)
Whales Tail- very good food, in the harbor (3)
(Port Royal and Whales Tail share a public dock)
Lobster Trap- good but pricey, on the water but access by car (19)
Fishermans House at Harbor Landing- good Asian & sushi, small dock (HL12)
Fishermans Wharf- various restaurants, near the ramp (FW22)

Friday morning we need to meet in the basin by the Anacapa Yacht Club (Location 28 on the map)
Leave the harbor ~0730 and make way to Ventura Harbor for breakfast at Christy's. (1/2 hour trip)
After breakfast, leave Ventura and make the trip up to Santa Barbara. (1-1/2 to 2 hours trip)
We should make Santa Barbara around noon. The afternoon is your time to visit, relax or be a tourist. We will meet for dinner at the Endless Summer, over looking the harbor, at 6:00pm

Saturday is the Seafood Festival
Meet for breakfast at the Breakwater ~0800 (or at your leisure)
The day is yours to site see as you wish. A late lunch is very much anticipated to enjoy the fresh lobster, crab or fish of your choice.
We will have a dock party in the evening (bring hors d'oeuvres to share)
I will provide the "Sea Dog" Beer.

Sunday- Breakfast at the Breakwater prior to leaving Santa Barbara at 10:00 and making our way back to Channel Islands Harbor.
After you have trailered and rinsed your boats;
You are all invited, as our guest, to meet at the Anacapa Yacht Club at 2:00pm for a buffet prepared by the Chinese Dumpling House.
House Chow Mein (3 meat)
House Fried Rice (3 meat)
Beef with Snow Peas
Almond Chicken
Egg Roll

Let me be the first to say another great C-Dory get together goes into the books! My son and I had a wonderful time (our 4th annual? -- if so, can't believe it). Weather predicted to be sketchy with rain and some wind, turned out slight rain early Friday, none on Saturday or Sunday, terrific. Got in some good walks to town for what else -- boat supplies. My son and I had our usual 'hand-picked' lobster lunch and the group layed out a tremendous pot-luck dock snack party for the evening. Weather was perfect for our Saturday evening dock party, lots of passer-bys 'wished' they had a C-Dory about then! Had a nice, easy-going breakfast at a local favorite just off the pier.

To wrap up the outing, Roger and Pat hosted a great afternoon meal consisting of all kinds of scrumptious chinese food, drinks and dessert back in Channel Islands Marina. Thank you Roger and Pat for another great event, sign me up for next year! I'll post the few pictures I took tonight, too busy having fun to take more.
