Hello everyone, we’re heading down towards Mobile Alabama on the great American loop around the holidays and I’m researching places to store the 22 cruiser (no trailer) for roughly a month in that area so we can fly out.
Does anyone have any insights? Advice? Recommendations?
We’re looking to be down there around the first or second week of December and will be storing the boat for about a month.

Thank you all in advance

Dog River Marina, is where most boats doing the loop stay. If you just need a dock to tie up to off Perdido Bay--with power, give me a PM

Hello Sebastien,

Shiver me timbers, we hope you have heat.

Mobile Bay can be gnarly in Dec; expect an arctic front from the north every 6-10 days with SCA conditions lasting 2-4 days...but at least it will be at your back.

Bob’s generous offer is by far your best bet!

I assume you are planning to later head east to Carrabelle. That’s only a few days travel in a CD22, but the Gulf crossing in a CD22 could keep you pinned down for quite a while in the winter. By late March to mid April there are no more arctic fronts and the Gulf can be smooth. South Florida is still pleasant then. Most Loopers will be headed up the AICW and transient slips will be much more available, if that would work out for you.

We’ll be on Cat O’ Mine at the Ft Myers AGLCA Rendezvous Jan 23-25, then at Pink Shell Resort marina (again) until the Hontoon Hoot. Hope to meet somewhere along the way.

Safe travels,

John

Hello Bob and John,
Thank you bob for pointing out dog river - I’m waiting for a callback to talk to someone there about the details but I was hoping for on-the-hard storage which they don’t have.
I’ve found turner marine to be a good candidate in the same area.. and their rates for yard storage look really good.
when we come through Pensacola I certainly want to meet you and take you up on you offer.

John, thanks for the heads up about Mobile bay and the Arctic front cycles around this time of year. We have heat with shore power otherwise it’s warm clothing and down sleeping bags but we are a hearty pair!

The loop has been incredible and we look forward to the Florida section as much as a little break around early December to early January to visit family.

We’re planning to hug the forgotten coast as much a possible as we make our way down the panhandle btw.
