I'm from Huntsville Alabama and I'm ready to buy. If you are thinking about selling and don't want the hassle please contact me. I'm willing to drive a good ways.
Very interested in the high tops because I'm tall and need the room.
Thanks!
Ted

I so want to be a C-Brat. Thanks for the replies. I know I said I would drive but Cali is 3k (round trip) in driving too much for me. Hopefully someone within my area will hope to sell.

I'm starting to realize that may be the case. I see a road trip in my future.

Still looking for a 22 or 25. I've missed out on some good ones because I thought I had a contract on a 22 in Panama City Fl, but the guy backed out on me the day before I was going to drive down.

Just raising my hand again to let you know if you are selling I'm still looking.

My wife and I drove 34 hours and 1,953 miles for a clean 25 Cruiser and came home without a boat Sad.

Got to the boat and it was in perfect condition. I was all in - I could not find a thing wrong with it. That was until the water test.

The boat had been modified with a steel swim platform and the engines mounted on the back of it. The weight added to the transom and moving the engines back made it perform like a dog. It could not get on a plane unless at WOT (Honda 150). I noted the trim tabs were extended and the engine had a fin - that should have given me a clue that it had trouble getting out of the water.

To make things worse the hydraulic steering was loose and I asked the seller to go around again. During the turn the engine went full over causing the boat to almost flip over. All I i could see out the window was water. All drawers and cabinets opened and ejected everything all over the floor. The worst part was my wife was on the back deck. I ran out cause I was sure we lost her. Came out the door and she was standing there drenched from head to toe. Needless to say the wet hen was NOT happy.

Then we try to put the boat on my Tundra and the tongue weight made my truck look like it was doing a Carolina Squat. Because of the added weight of the swim platform the boat was moved about 4 feet forward on the trailer which created excessive tongue weight.

I was heart broken and drove home. I'll keep looking.

W0w, what a frightening experience. Having bot trim tabs and a Permitrim foil is not unusual. But it is to get the bow of the boat way down into chap when on a slow plane.

I have yet to see a 25 with would not easily get on plane even with the 130 Honda.

I would really suggest a surveyor to examine the boat, even if you have had some boating experience.

Did you take nay photos of the bracket? What was the reason for the addition of the bracket?

Thanks

Sorry to hear about your test ride. I'm glad you took it for a spin. By any chance is it the 25' Cruiser for sale on the Minneapolis Craigslist? The bracket on that one looks very interesting.

Maybe you could take the bracket off and put the motor straight on the transom.

Andesite - yes it is the Minneapolis Craigslist. Thataway removing the transom did cross my mind. I counted 16 bolts holding it on that would have to be repaired and getting the engines moved. I figured that would be a big cost that would put more damage on my bank account. To be honest, the swim platform to put the generator on was a huge selling point to me just did not think of the ramifications of the additional transom weight. Maybe I let a unicorn go Sad

I'm happy to say I found my 22. I purchased the one that was on Boat Trader in Texas. A HUGE shout out for Sunbeam helping me out. More the helping -guiding us through the process was invaluable. Sunbeam I owe you!

Am I officially a C-Brat or is there a hazing process Smile

I think your ride on that other boat was hazing enough!

congratulations on the 22. Come one down to the Pontoon gathering in March, if you have the time. Great cruising on the St. John's River--a bit different than the Tennessee River.
