I have heard it is an ex navy seal insertion boat, is 80 feet long, does 60 knots and can turn on a dime. It was bought at auction and driven overland from the east coast to our little town to be made seaworthy again. Why La Center? No idea.

The guy whos house it is at is a diesel mechanic, not the actual owner.

I don't know if all or any of that is true, but the boat sure is cool.

Theses are the Mark-5’s (MK—5)… light weight, big high speed diesels, with water jets and two big fuel tanks, to keep the thirsty engines running.
After I retired from the USCG, I got to help maintain this fleet for several years. They cracked a lot and usually required removal of the foam in the fuel tanks and of course, gas freeing everything, before crack repair, could proceed.
Lastly, these were built, so that everything topside could be unbolted, and placed inside of the boat and the boat, on its special trailer, could be placed inside of a C-5 aircraft.

After reading a story about extremists on Whidbey, are they starting their own navy?

Whomever bought that boat must have deep pockets: 2× 2285 HP MTU 12V396 TE94 engines, and 2600 gallons of fuel, to give a range of 500 miles (doesn't say at what speed).

Those engines alone are pricey to maintain.

Tell us about how much maintenance is required!

I wonder if he's going with an F250 or F350 tow vehicle....I'd go 1 ton dually, but that's me.

Years ago, I was lucky enough to go for a ride in one of those when on a visit the Seals training facility in san diego. The helm looked more like a fighter-craft than a boat.
