Where have all the 19’s gone?
No, I’m not writing a new song with a classic tune, but it could be a new hit.
Karen and I have owned our 19 Angler (Zenith) since December 2019. We enjoy reading posts on this forum, and we have learned a great deal about the care and feeding of our Dory. We have also met (virtually) alot of very nice Dory owners.
The Brat Map shows 151 19’s. As this is only 5% of the total C-Dory’s on the map, it is understandable that the number of posts from 19 owners could be substantially fewer than those of other boats.
The Map shows 19’s all over the country, but relatively few of the owners have posted any text or album photos. As with any social media platform, there are those who post often, and those who rarely post.
I know that 19’s are no longer in production, and that many former 19 owners have moved up to 22’s or larger. I often see posts where someone is interested in buying a 19, and the replies tend to be “get a 22” for various reasons.
There are many great photos and videos of 22’s and larger making extended cruises, trailering to exciting destinations, and making upgrades for comfort and safety.
I have seen similar posts from a few 19 owners, but those posts are rare and often from long ago.
Where have all the 19’s gone? Are they still being used and loved?

It seems to me that there is little culling of the Brat Map if someone changes boats or gets away from C-Dorys altogether. Once someone places a marker for a boat or location, it tends to stay there forever.
For instance, the previous owner of my boat is still shows on the map as having a 22 even though I've owned the boat for almost 9 years. I guess he never got around to removing his pin (if that is even possible).
Also, my boat got listed twice. Once by me and once by my wife. So my CD22 actually appears 3x on the map.
The point of all this is that there may be fewer 19s in existence than the Brat Map may lead you to believe. |

Hello Zenith , This is a little brother and his bigger brother. If you look in photo's under Hit and Miss you will see my portfolio . At the end of that album is the Windfall album portfolio. These brother boats will be in Cathlament Wa. from June 22 every other weekend to the end of September. I fish and cruise out of them. They are my pride and joy. I do not know why they are not on the Brat map , I am from Chehalis , Wa. Maybe someone can help out there. Hope to see you down there, I camp in a camper for a week at a time. Capt. A Fib at the Helm. |

When the subject of 19's popped up my first thoughts were Dwight (Chromer) and Greg and Cindy (Ari). Both extensively used, and mod-ed. Then, back a ways was Ruth and Joe on R-Matey, again considerable use and mods. I know all those boats are still around but we just don't see much from the owners.

Hello Chromer. Thanks for the reply. Your photos of CP2 and the adventures with her are great. Take care. |

Regarding Ari, Greg and Cindie have done extensive work on that 19 and have cruised her extensively in WA and BC waters. That boat was the original
R-Matey first owned by Joe and Ruth. I also know the second owner of the boat and he fished in her a few times up in Nootka Sound on Vancouver Island. _________________ Patrick and Kim Walker
