I might be doing some of the Gulf coast in the area a little south of Crystal River to north of Crystal River. I know Gulfcoast John has touted this area (at least the other coast as he called it). Any one have info to share on put-in points, special places to visit, etc.
Thanks, Jay |

We’re into beaches, and there’s not much beach there at Crystal river.
Anclote Key is on our to-do list with 3.5 miles of beach on the Gulf side (part of our 40 year quest to hike all the public beaches and islands between Key West and New Orleans). It’s only about 25 miles south.

Launch at Anclote River Park; pay at kiosk to park your rig for up to ten days.

Anchor out on Anclote Key for a week or three.
Cruise up the river, get a reservation far in advance at Tarpon Springs city docks.
Get some great Greek food nearby on D street, support the sponge museum.
Cruise down to Pink Shell Resort and Marina, and spend a month or three there.
It’s ALL so much better than Michigan waters in March!
Happy Cruising!

In our humble opinion, Crystal River is a distant second to Cedar Key. This is a throw-back to Old Florida, and has it all.
Blog entry on our day in Cedar Key. Loved it. _________________

We launched in the small town of Suwannee to explore that area. There is a small public ramp next to Gateway Marina where there was no charge to leave our rig. This was about 5 years ago so you might want to check for current information. You can explore up River to see beautiful springs or out in the gulf to Cedar Key and Crystal River. If you like wilderness try the Waccasassa River.
