Purchased the 2000 Cruiser 22 currently named Island Jewel but digging through this mountain of inherited receipts, poloroids, and paperwork it looks like she has also been called Lilian Marie. I've omitted names for privacy, but if you ever owned this boat don't hesitate to reach out!

We scooped her up near Cocoa Beach on the "Space Coast" of Florida. Last week we towed her all the way to Lake Superior. Her new home port is Hancock, Michigan across the shipping canal from Houghton, MI and Michigan Tech University in the beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula. This summer she will be spending the season at Barker's Island Marina in Superior, Wisconsin across the St. Lewis River from Duluth.

I have owned a few sailboats in my day, including a beautiful West Wight Potter 19 named Marshmallow, but at 31yrs old, this 21yr old work of art called a C-Dory becomes my first "grown up" boat. It is difficult to put into words how excited I am. My wife and I have many adventures planned. Wish us luck!

congrats, nice boat and a helluva drive to get it. How many times on the way home did you look in the rear view mirror and grin.
The wife and I have taken to watching the Duluth vessel canal camera on you tube, it seems your boat seems a little short to be a proper laker boat Smile

Well Ken, about as many times as I looked in the mirror and started sweating.

Yes, I think the official figure is about 678' too short to be a laker. Well, maybe 677' w/ the swim platform, but who's counting?

Congratulations! That is exciting! And, at 31, it puts you in the youngish range of C-Dory owners. It is good to see young blood coming into the ranks of C-Dory ownership. Apparently, it took some of us much longer to get as smart as you are at 31.

The adventure of heading to Florida to pick her up is just the first chapter, and many of us will looking forward to hear about how you will use that lovely and capable boat. Plenty of former sailors here, too... if you have sailing friends, they will be very curious about your C-Dory; and envious of your ability to go out comfortably in the comfort of that enclosed helm.

Keep us posted on your adventures. Lots of C-Dory experience and wisdom here as questions arise. I compliment your good taste!

Jim

Congratulations! You guys are going to have so much fun with her and you have beautiful cruising grounds up there. Go out and buy a new external hard drive now because you'll quickly fill up your phone with pictures of her. Something about a C-Dory and a sunset is just special. There aren't many more photogenic boats out there. See if you can make the calendar next year.

My wife and I bought ours last March and enjoyed many weekends on her. You simply can't beat the little cabin on these boats.

And it's great to see someone younger than us on C-Brats!

I'm going to ask about your Bimini on another thread.

Welcome and we look forward to hearing about your adventures.

Congratulations on your new boat and to the many adventures that await you on the water! You've already had more than a few with her on land!
