Mildew in the battery compartment

I noticed there is some mildew growing in my battery compartment. What should I be doing to prevent thiis?

Those of us in Oregon and Washington are pretty much wondering the same thing!

I just wait until spring and clean it off with Barkeeper's Friend. Probably the only way to prevent it is keep it dry, and the only way to do that is keep the boat inside and warm. Not something that a lot of us can do.

welll, the only response I could think up was to relocate the battery box to Arizona...dry and ventilated is the key to fighting that stuff.

Ok so it's "normal". I was thinking of installing my TR-1's hydraulic pump in there but now I'm not so sure. Thanks for the feedback.

Try some TileX at the first sign of mildew - or a cheaper solution is bleach in a spray bottle.
