I am in the market for a used CD-25 and as I pursue the market of available boats, I have been curious about the structural differences between hulls throughout the years.

After searching this forum, I have seen comments saying there were hull changes in 2007 but I haven't seen any list of how the hull and construction have evolved over the years.

Are there any years of production that are notorious for issues?

Thanks for the insight!

All of the 25 hulls are the same. The cabin and cockpit have changed somewhat.

In 1995 - 1996 (registrations show 1993-1997?) there were about half a dozen of the "Cruise Ship" 25's built. My son owns one. These did not have glass windows in the aft cabin bulkhead. They had "head"--more of a closet on the port side aft, then a back to front dinette, which is huge. Could seat 6 in a pinch, easily 4. The Starboard side has a small (really small) storage locker, then a very narrow galley and the helm seat.

There seemed to be cockpit experimentation. My son's boat has a cockpit molding very similar to my 2007 25. Some had the same molding (or layup) as the 2002-2004 boats.

Apparently the boats were re-started sometime in the 2002 era. These had the cockpit deck flat all of the way aft, and scupper drains out the transom. There as a hatch into the bilge aft, with raised sides and a loose fitting top. There was usually sunbrella curtain to petition off that area under the splashes.

Earlier 2002 + had plastic fuel tanks. There was only one fuel fill. About 2004 (I am going from memory) there were two fuel fills (much better and allowed better venting). Also there was a solid petition, part of the cockpit molding which separated off the splash well.

In the 2005-06 era, the head was changed to a 9 gallon base holding tank, the water tank was moved aft (had been forward in the 2002 + boats.

The 2006-2007 era the shelves on each side of forward cabin appeared. Also late 2006 early 2007 models the molded fiberglass interior appeared. There was a laminate covered plywood prior to this time. There have been some minor changes in the wood work in the interior--some drawers were in different places, refrigerator different places etc. There may be variation from year to year. Foam me be used in coring in some of the most recent boats??

My first 25 was a 2003, the current is a 2007. I like the changes--cockpit, tanks, access, storage space (no foam under the v Berths in my boat) etc. Many of us have modified the boats' interior and cockpit aft storage, as well as some mods to the cockpit floor hatches etc.

Look at several years examples and see the differences.

This is great! This sort of timeline is what I was looking for. I assumed most of this would come from tribal knowledge—as is normally the case for things like this.
