|
|
Cdory 25 year 07. So I put a vacuum hose in the little view hole on the floor by birth area this summer. Pulled out several gallons of sea water. I know it is sea water cause I bought a tester. Any ideas where sea water can get in under birth area other than from the anchor rope storage area? When I had a 22 ft cdory I cut a hole in The top of the birth area and removed all the water soaked foam in order to repair leaks from screws which were put in to far. Would this be a cause? Should I cut a hole and remove the foam in this 25 ft cdory? |

JKSWOR,
Most of the time, this is caused by the screw holes that fasten the brass trim guard that is mounted under the centerline, near the bow of the 22's and 25's...
The repair is straightt forward. Remove the screws, let the fiberglass dry, drill the holes oversize, fill the holes with thickened epoxy, redrill new holes, only to the length of the fastener. Lastly caulk the screw holes and fasteners with 3M-4200. _________________ Steve Baum

I have a keel guard installed from the eye to where it goes flat. So only option would be to cut a hole large enough to remove foam and repair it from the inside then install a hatch and use fir storage. Like on the 22 ft cdory s with this problem |

Removing foam gives a lot of good storage area. Even with the foam removed, it maybe difficult to find the leak--and probably a couple of layers of cloth and epoxy right down the middle would be the best repair...
Always the option to remove the "Keel guard"--and replace it.
Are you sure it didn't come from the anchor locker? Salt water can be deflected up thru the drain hole, and then run to under the V Berth floor. _________________ Bob Austin

No not sure. How would I tell if it is running from by the drain hold to under the birth? Anyway to test it? Maybe cover hole on outside and pore dyed water in rope locker |

No disrespect intended, but I'm going to take a wild stab and say you meant "berth" area instead of "birth" area. Sound the same, but vastly different meanings! _________________

Did you have an answer to my question? |

For any technical question, my advice is always to go with Bob Austin's answers - he is my (and everyone else's) go to guy. |
