Hello All

Does anyone happen to know the bridge clearance of the Tomcat 255 in water? Trying to see how easily it will fit under the bridge coming out of our canal

Thanks in advance

If no reply you could send a pm to gulfcoast john or thataway. One of them can probably give you the air draft of the Tomcat.

Regards,

Rob

Rob,

I PM'ed Tim that we got Cat O' Mine under 8 feet bridge clearance to do the Lachine Canal through Montreal by removing the HDX24 radar dome while leaving up a radar platform a bit above the Coleman 13.5 BTU Coleman rooftop air conditioner we had at the time. Boat is in the shop so I can't do exact measurements, but I think with 13.5 rooftop AC he'll be an inch or inch and a half under 8 feet bridge clearance even with a radar platform just above the AC.

If not, Tim could add 900 lbs of gas, plug the aft cockpit scuppers and add 400 lbs of water to each sponson while disabling the bilge pump floats, and three 300 lb 'good ol' boys' with strong wrists and their 150 lbs of beer and a Sarasota astronomical low tide and squeeze under.

Since I can't measure, if other TC255 owners have a more precise reassurance, sing out! I'm depending on memory, and it's not what it used to be.

What was the subject again?

Cheers!

John

Well, Journey On isn't a Tomcat, but the cabin is similar to a Tomcal, and the freeboard doesn't seem much different.

So we got Journey On under a 8' 6" bridge in the delta, near Sacramento. Left the radar on the high arch, lowered the antenna. Just to see if I could and it saved 5 miles of travel.

Thanks John - your memory hasn't forgot how to instill humor in a post! Laughing
You forgot one option though. He could ride the trough of a wave in like this - https://theskipper.ie/30-mtr-98-4-ft-wave-recorded-off-irelands-west-coast-this-morning/?fbclid=IwAR2w4PVITBwUXO4t64qf6RDp1z1jr2KtGFLvkG7l4UNy8ZnlSdlMerADkZI

If the trough wasn't deep enough the wave would at least take the bridge out - so ether way - problem solved!
