Here's an early morning shot of the Moki Dugway I took last March on a trip to SE Utah and Colorado.

I would be ok with towing my 22 up the hill but not so sure about coming down. My trailer has surge brakes, which changes things, but would probably ok in 4wl. It's really only a 10%er. Slow and steady wins that race.

The road at the bottom is the one going to Mexican Hat.

Great picture. Is the road surface well graded and compacted or is there any looseness especially in the hairpins that would make loose traction?

The few times I've been up and down it the road has been very well maintained. After a good rain there may be a rut or two but, for the most part, pretty smooth. The turns aren't really that bad either. Just make sure no one is coming from the other direction, go wide, and take your time.

The worst part about the whole thing is the shear drops with nothing stopping you if you happen to go over the side. Focus on the task at hand and you'll be fine.

Alain, there was a video I saw posted somewhere by what looks to be a semi. And afterall, this road was made for ore carriers. I thought about attempting it with my 25 in tow behind my F150. But don't think my wife would have appreciated it, and wasn't sure I trusted the trailer ball. lol All though some launch ramps seem that steep. Anyway, it was a scenic drive on up to the turnoff just before Blanding, and then the road from there into the turn off to Halls. No park staff on duty when we came in on a Tuesday or out on a Thursday, to show my pass to or inspect the boat. Take pictures if you haul up that way and let us know how it was. Mr. Green To be honest, I also thought about towing out the Apache trail one time as well, but decided against it. lol. (The road from Canyon Lake past Apache Lake to Roosevelt Lake.) Maybe when I was younger... Colby

WOW we would like to be there so bad. I have never met a c brat I didn't like. We were there In June and Aug..June was a little cold and Aug was crazy, to many jet skis and house boats. Some of these drivers are very inexperienced. September seems perfect! I just had open heart surgery and am going to play by the rules! Where is the sign up sheet for next year! Y'all have fun hear

I have driven a number of steep, shear drop off roads, with big trucks and RV's. But I would wouldn't want to attempt The Moki Dugway towing a C Dory 25. My concern would be some mechanical problem with either the truck or trailer... I don't know about Moki Dugway, but many of the roads I have transversed like this were so narrow that sometimes a vehicle had to back up to a wide enough passing place. The rule was down hill going vehicles had to back up. In reality size counted. Occasionally I would have to put the truck in compound low and "growl" a bit....

Looking at the State restrictions: speed limit 5 mph, advise against vehicles over 28 feet in length. Discourage large RV and trucks towing trailers, width is only 1 1/2 lanes wide. (Probably two cars could pass, but not a car and a C Dory..?)

Bob nailed it. My concern really wasn’t so much the ball as any mechanical issues even tho I keep my vehicles and trailers in good shape. From what I’ve read you should be able to see ahead for opposing traffic before the corners. (Unlike the Apache Trail.). Not sure how long the available pullouts are. But it’d still be fun! Lol

Probability is increasing that C-Traveler will be there, again. Likely launching on the 24th next week at Halls Crossing. Tempted to run Moki Dugway, Mr. Green but since I'm coming from the midwest, I'll come in from Blanding direction. Colby

Most likely towards the back of the canyon. Last year the water was 20 feet higher so we won’t be able to get that far in. It’s not a real big canyon so just watch for C-Dory’s listen on 16 and 68 for chatter. See you there.

I will be leaving home with C-Traveler tomorrow and plan to launch at Halls Thursday (Sept 24) sometime in the afternoon. Then pulling out early on the 1st to return home. I'll head up towards Cedar Canyon if it isn't too late, otherwise on Friday. Brent, I'm thinking about getting a fishing license and dropping the down riggers. What kind of bait or lures are you using? I was thinking Frozen Anchovies, otherwise various lures. Colby
