Got the name and graphics on the "new to me" CD22. Here is the ship's blessing at the naming ceremony
"Hundreds of years ago, European sailors discovered islands in the Caribbean Ocean they regarded as paradise on earth. These they names after saints – St. Martin, St. John, St. Thomas, St. Croix……These sun drenched islands are regarded as paradise on earth still, and a place where people go to enrich their spirit and recharge their souls. So it is with this vessel. Christened “Saint Somewhere”, it is a place to recharge our souls, renew our spirit, explore new things, and remember a simpler life. May God bless this vessel and all who sail on her."

Regarding boat names, my experience is they are very personal.
A name endearing to one means nothing to someone else.
I can understand people wanting everyone to admire their boat name. It's at
risk of the owners ingenuity, creativity, individual identity and a stretch of their
ego; got it. The truth is, it doesn't work.
Humorous boat names are seemingly different. Humor is universal, infectious,
healthy and even healing (we all need this). Unfortunately, tho I think this is true,
one's humor works for some but not all. Painfully, I've learned this lesson.
Some of mine:
"Sin or Swim"
"Just Add Water"
"Head Hunter"
"My Last Boat III"
"Fahrfrumwurken"
"Bow Movement"
"Jib Boom, Jib Boom..."

Texas Mountain Man (my interpretation of your user name)
Thanks for sharing your Dory’s name. Time and the seas are vast, and you have drawn from the spirit of the past. It meant something to me to read the story of the name. _________________ Ron & Rose

txmntman, Hey Tex, I liked your ceremony text. Very good. I have not been into the naming/de-naming ceremonies much, but yours sounds good to me. Ever since I was big enough to row up and down the fairways in the marinas around Sidney BC, I always wanted a boat big enough I could put a boat name on. It finally worked, and I have had a few.

Harvey, I have enjoyed reading about your "big enough boat" very much!
B--C, Good eye on the Parrot. Actually, there is a story behind everything. I flew a pirate flag on my Hobie Cat when I was racing those sailboats, aboard the "Mikey Likes It". The name, "Saint Somewhere" is inspired by the Jimmy Buffett song "Boat Drinks", and he is one of my favorite artists. His fans are called Parrot Heads. I had a Parrot Head decal on my last boat "Nicky". When I saw this decal, it gave me a chance to marry the Pirate Flag and the Parrot Head.....I just couldn't not do it.....
Everything is a story...

Good story Mike, fun and informative. I like that.
Thanks, I have been immune to the common 2 foot itits so far. Oh yes, there are times I look, and even drool, but practicality still rules.
Enjoy Your Saint Somewhere.
