Has anyone put in at willow beach up the river to Hoover dam? I have kayaked it and want to take Pura Vida up. My question is on sun and mon they do not allow boats with motors. If I am anchored or on shore those days would I still be in violation. I saw some great little bays along the way and could just hang out and use the kayaks and sup. After sep 1 they do not allow jet skis. |

Hi - we live 30 minutes away in Boulder City about 10 minutes to the main boat launching for Lake Mead in the south end. As to Black Canyon, depending on the time of year there are no motor days and always a limit on motor size even on motor OK days. You have to be careful in the upper reaches of the canyon, if you rent a boat they tell you half way or no way unless like you are open to buying a lower end on the motor.

AND:
MOTORIZED VESSEL USE RESTRICTIONS: WILLOW BEACH TO HOOVER DAM
The canyon from Willow Beach to Hoover Dam is managed as a primitive zone where visitors can experience a variety of recreational opportunities in a natural setting.
Year-round: Sundays & Mondays:
PWCs and vessels with motors are prohibited.
Memorial Day – Labor Day: Tuesdays – Saturdays:
There are no horsepower restrictions. PWCs are allowed.
Labor Day – Memorial Day: Tuesdays – Saturdays:
PWCs are prohibited. Only boats with with 65-horsepower engines or less are permitted.
Houseboating, waterskiing, and wakeboarding are prohibited for safety reasons because of the narrow canyon environment.
Hope this all helps, feel free to give me a call at 714 686-2728!
