Data gathering again. I like the Venture 23. Going for test ride...

Does anyone have pictures of :

1. radar dome on top
2. Radar dome with inflatable on top - what size inflatable did you buy?
3. Cockpit rail for Magma grill

Kathi,
It's not a cockpit rail but Burnewiin makes a Offset Insert Adapter for use with a Magma Grill. With this insert, it is easy to remove the grill when not in use. We are considering buying a Magma Marine Kettle along with the insert to go with our Burnewiin.
Where would you put your rail if you go with that method? The cockpit is not all that long. Take into consideration the rail length and height to enter and exit the cockpit, load supplies, etc. if you go with that method.

Kathi,
Exuse the initial picture-only response above. I had to jump and run suddenly as I was posting.

Here's a little more info. The dinghy was an Alaska Series 220TDS tender with Grizzly Claw protection on the undersides of the tubes. The boat was 7'3" long, and weighed around 50 lbs. The radar arch was a factory option "Tall" arch, which allowed the stern of the tender to slide underneath it. All in all, it was pretty easy to deal with. I could stand on the bow and drag the dinghy over the railing and onto the top by myself without much trouble. There are several other pictures scattered through my album if you are interested in other perspectives on how the dingy sits on the top.

I’m guessing by inflatable you mean an inflatable dinghy, like a Zodiac, Avon, etc.... The inflatable we use on our 23’ is a Sea Eagle FasTrack 385ft tandem kayak. It weighs 32 pounds and I built a rack using thick pvc pipe and store it on the cabin top. I’m not getting my photo to paste in but I have a sub album in our photos page that includes several photos of the rack. We’ve used it for several years in all kinds of weather and have never experienced any sort of problem or weathering. I am not at all sure you could do something similar if your inflatable is the larger much heavier dinghy type.

We have an 8' aluminum-floor dinghy that I store on top of a 23. The reason for the aluminum floor type is sitting on the dock..Laughing I can bring the dinghy up over the bow rail and hoist it onto the roof, but it's kind of awkward and puts a strain on my back. I now have the Garhaeur davit mounted and it's much easierto lift the tender onto the roof.

Here's a pic of before I had the radar arch.

Magma Kettle mounted in a rod holder on the cross bar/rail at the front of the Splash well.
