I am thinking of towing my C-Dory up to the San Juan Islands from Southern California to spend about a week cruising. Can anyone recommend a safe and secure place to leave my truck and trailer. I am thinking somewhere close to Anacortes or Bellingham. |

Anacortes has a sling launch with plenty of parking. From what I understand, long term is OK. Bellingham has a launch ramp and they used to have long term parking across from the launch ramp. I understand that lot is now closed, but a week may be OK at the ramp.
Call to verify what is available, because my info is a couple of years old.

Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham has a great launch ramp. They previously allowed long term trailer parking in a nearby dirt lot but they ended that practice a couple of years ago. Now I believe the max time is 7 days. When we towed up there last year we stored our trailer in a storage yard operated by Hilton Harbor, which is about 1 block south the launch ramp so an easy walk. I believe we paid $25 for 3+ weeks of storage. I was quite pleased. I found Hilton easy to work with and secure for the trailer. As for our tow vehicle, the folks at Squalicum authorized me to park it in their marina parking lot. They were also great and easy to work with!

Skyline Marina ( at the end of Hwy 20 ) has a sling launch and a very large gravel parking lot for truck/trailer parking. This is in a residential area, crime is not really an issue. And literally, once you exit the the marina within 15 minutes your into the Islands. |

Last summer we launched from Deception Pass State Park at Cornet Bay Marina. There is a nice, roomy, secure parking area there that charges 10 bucks a day for parking (includes launch fee). There was a resident host camped there at the time as an extra source of information and security. _________________ Classea Lady |

We may try Hilton Harbor next time mentioned by Rob above. We just got back yesterday from using Landings at Colony Wharf for trailer storage at $40/week. Location is immediately south and adjacent to HH. |
