Today we sold our 1991 Angler Crabby Lou to Patty's sister Barbara Ruden and her husband Berry. Their first order of business will be to repower with a new Tohatsu 40. I hope they will soon introduce themselves here! They live about a quarter mile from us in Birch Bay and are ardent crabbers!

That's great, you're keeping it all in the family!
So I take it you got back home OK?

Pat- I remember about 15 years ago you were thinking about repowering from the Johnson. I guess you can stop thinking about it now. Congratulations to you and to the Rudens.

Well, it wasn't nearly 15 years ago, but yes, we were considering that. Then that Johnson proved its worth in getting us home from Sucia in gale winds - never missed a beat. What has happened since then is that the hydraulic tilt has failed and it has stopped pee'ing, so with both those things, we decided we did not want to do any repairs on such an old motor. The Rudens wisely decided IMHO that a re-power was the way to go, and I think their choice of the Tohatsu is great.

Pat, eventually both peeing and standing up will become problematic for you and I sure hope Patty doesn't decide to not have any repairs done for such an old man.Mr. Green

Kind of sad to see you letting letting go of the little boat that served her purpose so well. You will still toss the traps out of the big feller once in a while, won't you?

Absolutely! Our new crabbing regime is to go south to Center Island when crabbing opens there about a month before it opens here. When it opens here, we go out an anchor up in Birch Bay (where we can look up at our house!) and stay out for the days crabbing is open. We cook and clean the crabs on boars and ice them down, and then we come in!

Pat and Patty, Great to hear the little boat is getting a new lease on life. A ticker transplant and all will be like new again, well, that and a fresh scrubandwax at least. Glad to hear you made it home OK.

When I saw this post's headline I wondered if Team P could possibly have given up chasing crabs. Of course not! Good to hear, and your revised Birch Bay crab collection system sure sounds like fun. Cocktails and conversation above while the critters crawl into your cage below. Or a slow cruise to Center Island.

That's really cool that Patty's sister and husband bought Crabby Lou, and plan to repower her. Kinda warms the heart knowing your loyal little craft will be in such good hands. Love
