Has anybody came up with a good idea I’m storing the motor for your Dinghy?
I have a 22’ cruiser and with limited deck space I was wondering about a good spot to keep my 3.5 merc. _________________ Cheers |

Fishy, I have seen a couple installations where a stainless steel bracket was through bolted to the starboard side of the cabin door. The motor was then clamped to the bracket in a vertical position where it was safe and secure. _________________ Barry Rietz

Hopefully someone will get bored enough to show off and Bragg about setup. I need to figure something out. |

Sorry my boat is still in storage so no pic but I made a bracket out of aluminum angle iron and a teak mounting block and mounted it in the splash well on the port side. This location worked well for me because my trolling motor is mounted on the starboard side so no room there and my live fish well has been converted to a propane storage locker so the through bolts for mounting were not an issue. Works great! _________________ My dream boat has arrived! |

I'm planning on doing this as well. Would love to see photos of how you did this. _________________ Paul |

I have had a raising and lowering "Kicker" bracket on the Starboard side of all of. our C Dory's except the Tom Cat, That was designed for the dinghy motor or a kicker. A 3.5 Merc (which is what I have) will put the C Dory 22 right along over 3 knots in calm water.
I have also made Starboard mounts which fit over the cockpit railing on the Tom Cat and the 25's. Our Torqeedo 3 hp equivalent had the bracket sitting on the railing. A piece of Starboard could be bolted to the inside of the gunnel on a 22 to do the same type of storage mount. _________________ Bob Austin

If you look at my pic albums, pull up Texada/Lund/Savary, pic #5 I think. Not the best looking photo of the kicker, but the best I have.
I made a bracket for the kicker and it is mounted inboard on the stbd side, just aft of the cabin bulkhead.
My original plan was to make a template out of wood to see if it worked. It was so successful, I left the mock up in place.
Near the to of the bracket, it is thru-bolted to the horizontal strip of starboard that stops stuff falling out of the storage space. I then glued a small block of wood behind the starboard to beef it up to take any strain when rolling in rough weather. The bottom of the bracket sits on the inboard step and takes all the weight.
The kicker is a 2.5 Suzuki and mounts vertically. It is as close to the cabin bulkhead as space allows and has never been in the way when stored.
If this sounds to tech for you, believe me, it is a piece of cake. I am a total dunce when it comes to DIY, yet this took me about 30 mins to measure, design, cut and put in place.
Very happy with it for 3 years, then I sold the boat.
Martin. |

I like it. I always worry I'm going to store mine on the ocean floor. |
