A mechanic serviced my Honda 90 a couple of weeks ago. I put her in the water and ran the motor...she ran great...but when I pulled off the cover I found this part laying in there. I'm waiting to get a call back from the mechanic but in the meantime, does anyone recognize this part?

That washer keeps something from rotating, like a wire harness clip etc. What did you have done?

To me it looks like it is the piece that provides the stops for something. Maybe the gear shift or the throttle cable. If you're Honda 90 is carbed it could be for the throttle plate, the auto choke (if there is one), maybe the acceleration pump actuator.

I had the mechanic come out to the slip to look at the motor. He's as stumped as I am. Like you guys, he agrees it is some type of stopper but it doesn't seem to belong anywhere on my motor. He looked in all the places he'd expect something like this (choke, throttle, etc) and nothing's missing.

All he did was change the oil, impeller, fuel filters, and lubed everything. Nothing that involved a part like this. He's going to go back to the shop and look at his guides for this motor to try and find the part. I have a service book too that I'll look at.

Possibly something from the previous owner. Isn't that what we blame all unexplainable things on?

Thanks for the help. Ran down and checked and she definitely has the Plate Assist in place. Must have fallen down into the motor casing on a previous repair.

Well its good to know that its not missing. Yes pulling off that lower cover every time you drop a part is a pain. Been there and done that.
