has anybody tried on of those memory foam mattress toppers in the V berth? Target is having a sale on these, I just wonder how they would handle moisture. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_4/601-9103405-4302522?%5Fencoding=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000094TL5

Hey BC Ruthi and I just finished cutting one to fit for Raven Dancer, 22' cruiser. We haven't used it yet but we are going up to Port Townsend right after Christmas for a week so I will let you know when we get back.
Big Dave.

I have just re-mattressed in my house and now surplus a queen size memory foam topper that I bought from Costco.
I had intended way back to get one for my v-berth in any event. Was it difficult to cut? what did you cut it with? was it queen or king and how did you orient it? I don't plan on cutting out the portion that will lie over the removable cushions.
Have a good Christmas and an enjoyable trip to Port Townsend.

PS they are quite heavy, maybe the boat will trim better?

Merry Christmas from Dave and Helen

BC. Mine is holding out real well the last two years! They seem to not absorb a lot of moisture Question
I went queen size, should have went king to get it to fit all the way across..... but then, you really don't sleep up against the wall anyway, so I guess a queen is about right! I trimmed-off the corners, and had to alter the cover it came in. but its sure nice and cozy in there! Seems to be a very durable foam. arrg! Shocked

I have used an electric meat carving knife in the past and it worked real well to cut foam.

B~C We bought the king and cut it with the electric turkey knife which worked great ! We didn't cut the notch out by the porta-potty space so it droops a little there but thats OK with me.
Later......Big Dave.

I think Bill and El on Halcyon have something like this... not sure. They would for sure know on how what ever they have does on extended trips and multiple climates... maybe they will soon come out of the parties in Las Vegas and respond to this.

We bought one of these from Costco and slept on it for two weeks straight in September. It was great! No more sore shoulders or hips. I cut it with a carpet knife and that worked fine, although an electric carving knife would probably work even better. A king size covered the 25 from side to side.

You could always make the supreme mistake, and buy her a vacuum cleaner for christmas. That will only happen once, guaranteed.

Overstock.com has memory foam toppers.

They have a deluxe 2 inch memory foam topper at $80 any size and free shipping. They also have covers for the toppers.

I dug a bit deeper at overstock.com

http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?page=proframe&prod_id=1078356

found it for $69.99. If the link doesn't work, at overstock.com, search for SKU #1010160.

Are you folks using these memory foam toppers instead of the factory cushions or on top of them?

I sleep on a Tempurpedic at home and like it except it does get harder in the winter when the room is cold and it is below freezing outside.

Regards,
Pete in NY
