Sorry to hear this, my condolences to his family.
I never met Les but was a very avid reader of the Marinauts progress from design - build - production to delivery. He always took the time to answer any questions or suggestions I had. I think one of the last Marinauts he delivered was the one he brought to Toronto, Ontario. Les offered to call the new owner and ask if he would take me for a sea trial. Said the buyer was like a Cbrat - very proud of his boat and willing to show it to other like minded boaters. I would have loved to see it but declined as I didn't want to waste his time before I had my ducks in a row.
RIP

I was a no-body to Les when I first joined this community yet when I asked him a question he answered me immediately and thoroughly with the kind of respect as if I was an old friend.
He made me feel welcomed and special.
He wasn’t the only one who did this but he embodied the warm and welcoming spirit of this C Brat community
May we follow in your steps Les, the trail you left for us

Susan and I are both sadden to hear this. We bought are 22 and our 27 from Les. We were so amazed when we bought the 22 that Les was able to get it full loaded with what wanted for the payment we could afford. It was truly a boat far better then we thought we could get.
When it came to the 27 , which was for sale at his shop for a long time, Les and kathy both worked with us and the seller to come together on the price and make it happen. I have missed my long talks with Les when every I stopped by. Still get all the work I cant do my self at EQ regardless of the drive. Yes its a sad day. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

Les and I shared thoughts on how to modify the Marinaut over time so that those with disabilities could still boat. He really cared about how to accomplish a low return design concept if it met the needs of even one or two boaters. Looks like some of our boat will outlast us! Bob |

I never had any interactions with Les but I followed along the Marinaut story with interest and was most impressed with how much he wanted to get every little thing RIGHT He was passionate about what he was doing and I loved that about him. Les, I will raise a toast to you tonight. _________________ Bill & Sherry C-25 sold 2020, next? |

I was hugely surprised to hear about Les. Since he sold my CD22 a few years ago I haven't been on the CBrats site nearly as much, but checking in today I saw a reference...searched for details...and here I am. He was wonderful. _________________ 36' Little Harbor Whisperjet - Lulu

Sad news indeed! I am completely shocked! We were on the St. John's River, and this news never reached out group. Les was a very special person. I never bought any thing from Les. I had called him and wanted to buy my Tom Cat 255 from him. He said "NO". He suggested that I buy it from Marc Grove at Wefing's. We met in person several times and spent a few days together.
May Les Rest In Peace. _________________ Bob Austin

Very sorry to hear this. I owned a very rare Toland 18-8. When it came time to sell, I consigned it with Les at EQ Marine. I appreciated that Les was a no-nonsense, no-BS type of guy. Les set the price and the boat sold quickly at a very fair price. I would chat with Les at boat shows and always appreciated his warm personality, integrity, and attention to detail. RIP Les. |

Bummed to hear this news,
We only spent a short time with him at the shop with a new Marinaut, but he was a steady supply of knowledge and good boating advice.

Only 68?! This is tragic. RIP. I never met him or even talked to him but over my short stint here on C Brats I've read many good things about him.

So sorry to hear about Les. We bought our 22 from him in 2006 and lived just a few minutes from EQ, his and Kathy's business so we were there often. Patti learned quickly that if I went to ask Les a question not to expect me back for at least an hour. His store of knowledge and advice was endless, and almost always right on the money. _________________ Patti and Barry
