There are ~54 million Christians in China. |
Yup. There are millions of Christians in India too (and Catholics like me). People are always surprised by that fact. Lol _________________ <><><> Jason <><><>

Since China's population is ~1.4 billion people, Christians represent a quarter of 1% (.0026) of the population. Not particularly surprising I'd say.
Note: Muslims represent about 1% of the USA population.....4 times the percentage of Christians in China. |

~4% of the population of China is Christian.
Some prominent churches and cathedrals are "protected relics". |

OOPS....you're right. My bad.
BTW, I just took the 54 million quoted above as the number of Christians which, as you point out, would result in about 4% of the population. In responding to your correction, I got curious, so I did a bit of research. Apparently the estimates of Christians in China varies widely with the percentage 2% being the most often quoted of the estimates I found.
Frankly, even at 2%, I do find that a bit surprising! |

No matter what percent, the Chinese Christians are widely persecuted. The Catholics are under a Bishop appointed by the Chinese Communist party. _________________ Bob Austin

I happened by the Catholic Cathedral in Tianjin China on New Year's Day a couple of years ago. The place was packed. I couldn't get in and could only look through a side doorway and see part of a wall. |
