hello all,
Just breaking in my new honda 40 with about 2 hrs on it. After couple of hours of proper breaking in cruising, I have no issues to contend with. The engine seems to run fine. Questions though, cleaning the boat post cruise, I noticed some dark, blackish looking oil on top of the cavitation plate. Took the cover off and did some inpection. It looks like the oil came from two hoses located very close to the tell tale on the starboard side. They look like drain hoses of some kind. I checked the dip stick and the oil in the engine looks fine. Bright, clear, no abnormal coloration. I'm thinking it's just some of the pickle juice they coat the motors in when new. But, while inspecting I noticed a hose that was not connected to what looks like a vacuum diaphram thingy. The vacuum thing looks like it ties into the trottle linkage. I returned the hose to the smooth nipple that protudes from the vacuum assembly. I have not been able to take the boat out since. What change can I expect? CoolSmile Rob

Here it is December 27, 2005.....I should expect that you have taken your boat out by now and you can tell us what effect the vac hose had on you performance yourself.

I can never understand post that don't get a timley reply. But "Stuff Happens", and your post may have gotton pushed off the "recent list" and lost in cyber space.

Do let us know how things turned out.
