Hey Ken, I share some of your burdens, and I’m glad to know you are coming. I also look forward to meeting new friends to swap tales of our adventures.
Karen and I have lived along the Columbia for 8 years, and have boated it the last 6 months. We enjoy winter days with an overcast, as the waters are often calm. Here’s to good weather for our event!
The BBQ shelter is reserved for the group on Saturday, Apr 4, for any activity.
The Kalama Kruisers would enjoy meeting you on the river. I will PM my phone # to you. |

Alaska caught fish sounds great! I have never had it stir fried Chinese style before, but if you want to cook it in a wok I am sure it will be delicious.
Cole Slaw will go good with that so we will plan on bringing a jumbo tub of it.
And looky here Mr. PNW_Wesley - your tentative little informal idea has reached the fourth page and is shaping up better every day! _________________ TyBoo Mike

With all the great comments in this thread, it's easy to over look one from the past.
We have all of E dock reserved, so no slip calls are needed. Each boat captain will register separately at the office when you arrive. There is power and water at this dock. |
Thanks for the clarification and repeat of that post. I didn't register that as I read it so Thanks again, and this year I promise not to plug up the works with a locked truck on the ramp.

On Feb 28, I completed a 3-day, 135 mile trip from Kalama WA to Astoria OR and back. Besides being a very enjoyable trip, it was a chance to for me to use my new Garmin Fantom radar and Suzuki 2.5 kicker. It was also a dry run for the upcoming April 3 get-together at Cathlamet.
I am happy as a clam with the radar. On 2 days of the trip, there were several hours of patchy fog, and the radar helped me dodge some ships in the channel while I was in the fog. It also popped up a green target which turned out to be a cement truck on the highway parallel to me. It was able to differentiate that moving target among the returns from the shoreline cliffs!
My primary intent for the kicker is in case of a main engine failure. I wanted something lightweight, and with just enough power to get me out of the navigation channel and headed toward the nearest shore. Since the Suzuki only has a few hours on it, I limited the throttle to about one third for my testing. With a wind of 6 mph from the west, and a current of about 1.5 mph from the east, Suzi could push Zenith along at about 3.5 mph, into the current or wind. Suzi pushed straight while I steered using the main as a rudder. I could easily steer in any direction, with a small turning radius.
I cruise Zenith at 4,000 rpm, which yields about 20 mph. Over the entire trip, I got 4.9 mpg!
I am looking forward to the Cathlamet event, and to many more cruises with Zenith.
I created a new album with some photos for this trip. The new album is currently “untitled”, as I was unable to give it a new name for some reason. |

You had me at "power", just signed up, hope there's room for 1 more. Will brobably be in the 16, maybe the 22, but definitely not the 10'.
Looks like a nice ramp right there in the marina, and I'd be happy just camping on the dock a couple nights if for some reason weather isn't favorable for the 16.
Wesley I'm digging your setup, with the electronics and the 2.5. Those are great little kickers, there's one on my 16 as well. Sounds like you had a blast the last 3 days.

John, I just now noticed that you are officially signed up the the Cathlamet CBGT . Great. I would think that Amy and Teddy will be able to make it also? I notice that you still have your 2012 C-Dory 23 Venture for sale on the 'C-Dorys For Sale' column on the home page. What a great opportunity for someone interested in buying a nice C-Dory to see your boat on the water in Cathlamet, Wa. on Saturday or Sunday at the event. Glad you can make it. Gary. |

Yes....we are excited to go....I think this was Teddi’s first gathering....she was born summer 2008 and we took her to the 2009 Cathlamet gathering.
We may be there on Friday and then leave Sunday...looking forward to seeing old and new Brats....

I've been researching pilothouse boats the last several months and have narrowed it down to the C-Dory 22 Cruiser. We're really excited...next step: see one in person. I'm a couple hours away from Cathlamet but if I were to show up on Saturday, would anyone be willing to show off their CD?
I promise to have bathed. _________________ Jason
