5 beef hot dogs (I use Nathan's - not a sin to use more) - sliced thick 1/2" (slice thin & they float and burn)
1/2 large onion chopped
3/4 cup cane syrup (cane juice should be the only ingredient - all others are cut with corn syrup, water, etc. and will crystalize)
2 28 oz cans Bush's "Country Style" baked beans
Bake 350º 2 hours - stir after 1st hour -- and that's it! 4 ingredients, 1 measurement, & one operation - kind of like boating.
They may not like the elk, moose, chicken, turkey, ham, steelhead, salmon, halibut, whatever - they always like the above - it's a hit in our family for 50+ years. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you!

Looks easy, I bet this is one I could do, (with a little adjustment for vegetarian style).
Thanks for sharing, and Merry Christmas to you also.

Harvey, MartyP: you're both welcome and yes it is extremely easy no matter how done. As for the modifications - I'm sure there's a whole bunch more - Leftover: Connie takes it out of the fridge, puts it on her salad and done . . . I'm more traditional - has to be warmed back up for me. Again - Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! |

mmmmm. My kids love wieners and beans.
Canadian version:
Harvest all beef wieners or Grimm's all beef smokies
Heinz baked beans with Tomato sauce (the English import ones if you can find em)
Maple Syrup
Cheers and Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas

Heinz has an English import? Did I read that wrong? Where do you find them? Thanks! |

t I think those English Heinz Beanz are in a greenish blue can. You can get them on Amazon and other places on line. |

Yep, I just found a business write-up on them:
"The Heinz factory in Wigan, England, is the largest baked bean factory in the world. The factory was opened in 1959 and currently produces over 3 million cans each day. The beans are shipped from North America and rehydrated once they arrive at the factory. They are blended with a secret mixture of spices and tomato sauce. The ingredients are steamed inside of the can.
Over 2.5 million cans of Heinz Beanz are sold every day in the UK, making it one of the most popular foods in the country." |

This is one of our favorites. Our kids and grand kids love it as well. My wife makes 2 separate dishes. A large pan with beans/tomato sauce, red hots, sautéed onions, bacon and maple syrup. Second smaller pan with turkey wieners and no bacon. When it is almost cooked cover the top with Velveeta cheese slices and raise heat or turn on broiler to brown top of cheese.
Talking about red hots any Canadians out there that want to talk about how Maple Leaf destroyed Schneiders food ?? lol
