My Toyo cabin heater was not used for at least a year by the previous owner and I changed out the bad kerosene with new and the heater fired up after cycling a few times.
After it went through it痴 2 min warm up and went into high gear blowing a good amount of heat I noticed a bit of constant white smoke coming out of the vents below the blower or where the heat comes out!
I have looked for answers throughout this forum and the only thing I could find was a post by SEA3PO about a Toyo shop heater he had that smoked and he was going to tear into it to find the problem.
I have PM壇 SEA3PO but I thought I would reach out to see if anyone else has had this problem as I have not heard back from him yet.
My thoughts are - the heater sat so long the gaskets dried out so I fired up the heater a day later (2nd attempt) same result.
I知 not too excited about firing up the unit again because I知 afraid the smoke is actually kerosene vapors.
Thoughts or experiences with the Toyotomi heater appreciated

How long did you let it run? It is possible that there was some material, which had settled on the metal which separates the fire box and the hot air box? If you let it run for 30 minutes and it was still smoking, then I would be worried. I am not familiar with that specific heater, but it would seem unusual to have gaskets which might fail between hot air box, and fire box....Generally these share one common wall (or are concentric in some heaters). _________________ Bob Austin

Thanks bob ! I think I知 going to take it apart this coming weekend and see what I see. To me the smoke looks like vaporized kerosene. I don稚 know if that could happen outside the inlet to the burner ? Not familiar with these heaters either but I think I値l get a class when I take it apart. I値l post what I find if anything. |

I ran the heater for almost an hour and it burned off whatever was stuck on there
Thanks for the idea Bob ! Sometimes I think too much into problems and I知 glad this was a simple fix.
The heater works great and will cook me out of the cabin if I知 not careful. |
